Does anyone besides me think we are going to be in for a big surprise from last years #1 JuCo prospect? Last year I saw some real potential, but he was injury plagued. I remember him being incredibly fast for his size.

Looks like it from the headline. http://www2.kusports.com/news/2009/oct/2...mens_basketball

How much do you think he'll contribute? Does Mr. Self have a complete under the radar big time healthy sixth man?

God I hope so! That would be a wonderful surprise. If not I think the we are loaded anyways.

Little should have gone to DePaul or UIC if he was looking for playing time. I think he was figuring he would get more exposure at KU and be surrounded with better talent and coaching. As bighawk84 said, we are loaded. IMWO - Mario is wasted on a loaded KU roster.

You dont worry about individual stuff here at Kansas, Little said. If we do well, the pie is big enough for all of us. Its not an individual thing, just come out and work hard, try to contribute to the team.

I liked this quote. This is a loaded team and Mario will be an impact, whether on the floor or off, with his attitude and leadership.

He looked back to form at Late Night. Turn around jumpers that cant be defended and soft touch to always get the bucket. Its a tough spot. Self has a one and done in both him and X now.

Self has said he is as healthy as he has ever been since he has been here, should be interesting to see how he comes out and plays.

I agree. If and when he plays.

Call me a downer but my only worry is that guys try too hard in the few minutes they get. I trust Self and the players to know what is expected of them when they do play.

Mario was brought in to be a key cog of last year's team. It didn't happen. He's not going to have a notable KU career.

Self sounded pretty noncomittal when discussing Mario's PT.

I know he wants to play Marcus at the 3, and X at the 2 and 3. It'd be nice is Mario was the No. 2 man at the 3 - seems pretty valuable to be able to send in a SR with shot-making potential as a sub.

How about Collins, X, Little, Marcus and Cole-- now there's a quick line-up w/all sorts of scoring potential.

If he has a few performances like that 10 for 10 stretch last season it's going to be tough to keep him on the bench. X may be tremendous, but it's hard to do better than 10 for 10.

Quick? Hardly. And who besides Sherron can handle the ball there?

It's nothing personal toward Mario...he just slipped through the cracks is all. Nice depth, though.

Yea I don't see much playing time from him either, and it's only because we're loaded.

Collins, Taylor, Morris, Morris, and Aldrich is going to be tough to top.

So you don't see Xavier in the starting lineup then??

Not over Morris. I'm sure X should get plenty of playing time, but he doesn't create real well. If Morris is shooting 3's they are almost an identical player in what they bring offensively and defensively and Morris is longer and a better rebounder with more offensive tools.

JMHO.

So your ideal starting lineup has both Morrises? This would terrify me.

From what I have seen of X, aside from the Late Night scrimmage, he has the ability to create his own shot easily during the flow of the game.

I don't see a problem having Marcus and Markieff on the court at the same time, especially if we are looking to run big.

From what I have seen of X (which admittedly is not much) he is way more explosive than Marcus.

We will see a lineup of Sherron, Xavier, Morris, Morris, Aldrich on the court at least once this season

Sherron would be inclined to just throw it near the rim with that towering lineup. Provided we start dunking again (besides Cole).

Mario Little's playing time will be determined by how well he has learned to play defense and how well his hopefully healthy body will allow him to play defense.

If he can't guard anyone, he won't play much. If he can shut people down, he will be very important.

His offensive game will be fine.

When that lineup scores 10 points in a row to make it up by 40 in St. Louis, can we do this?
Collins, EJ, Taylor, Xavier, Mc.Morris!! SPEEEEEED!
And after that?
Reed, Teahen, Morningstar, Withey, Aldrich?
