Actually, that cover wasn't from the 96-97 season "preview." It's from the 95-96 season. SI was going for the "semi-shocker" selection of picking us #1 over UK which the majority of people thought would be the best that year (and turned out to be very correct.

I already knew that, could care less what year the issue was for even though you can see it at the top of the page....I made the comment b/c Vaughn was on the 97 team. Not to mention I never said it was from 97 or that it wasnt from the prior year. Can we focus on the topic of the thread for a change.
