Upset Special: The Jayhawks picked the wrong week to engage in a multiple-round altercation with the KU basketball team. The Golden Eagles bring the nation's second-longest win streak (eight) and a top 20 offense to town. While coach Mark Mangino has downplayed the incidents, you've got to think they've affected the Kansas players' game-week preparation.

Southern Miss 33 Kansas 30

It's been a chaotic week for KU with all of the drama involving the football and basketball teams. This is the first of three consecutive road games for a young USM team -- but it's a very talented bunch. They have some really gifted skill players and will be a handful for the nation's No. 72 pass defense. I'll go with the upset.

The pick is Southern Miss 38, Kansas 35.

I bet Corso likes Southern Miss too. And Dr. Lou and Mark May.
It matters not. The Fighting Manginos will live up to their name. Actually, they already have.

IMO, not smart to use the brouhaha as a reason we lose this week. I'm thinking the opposite.

I'll say this...I'll be more surprised if we score 35 or less than if we give up 30 or more...

That's really messy, but I think it makes sense.

Unless Dez is out, I agree with this.

The Fighting Mangino's take out some frustration on Saturday. Hawks run away with it.

What are they going to beat us with, a win streak from last year against ho-hum competition? And a quickly aging, overblown media spectacle? Good luck with that.

I see us winning with a better coached, more talented, pissed off football team playing at home.

Is Sharp playing? Will it matter if he doesn't?

Kirk, I agree with everything you said, but I think it can be shortened.

I think that matters way more than anything else.

Agree. I just hope they don't whip out their big winning streak and lash us to death with it.

While Sharp as key for his leadership and speed, I see Opurum and Lewis being able to take most of the load off for Sharp this weekend so he can get fully recovered for conference play.

Fish: I agree that if Dez is out that's a blow, but Tertavian Ingram looked good to me against UNoCo. So we could still survive with Wilson, Meier, McDoog and Ingram.

Gutter: having Sharp will matter.
