Except for those empty seats you could see in the upper deck. Notice they didn't storm the field, either.

That was such an awkward scene after the game when the South Carolina officials pulled down the goal posts because they didn't want anyone getting hurt while breaking them down but nobody even rushed the field to do it.
The South Carolina fans were actually right to not rush the field because at half time they were chanting "overrated" at Ole Miss players leaving the field. They honestly believed that they were a much better team so they didn't rush the field.

Which is why KU fans shouldn't rush the field after beating OU. There's a excellent chance that KU will be the higher ranked and favored team.

Love my Jayhawks just as much as the next guy but we are talking about the OKLAHOMA SOONERS right?

Yes. The same ones who may have losses to BYU, Miami and Texas when they arrive on Mt. Oread. Those are all good teams, but it could be 6-0 vs. 3-3.

Have we ever played Oklahoma as the higher ranked team?

Will have to look that up. I'm sure KU was favored over OU when the teams played in the early days of the Big 12, but I don't think either team was ranked.

It's happened only twice, and KU won both times. I guess that's a good sign if the Hawks are higher ranked on Oct. 24.

On Oct. 24, 1992, No. 22 KU beat unranked OU in Lawrence, 27-10. I was at that game and yes, ran onto the field to tear down goalposts. Had no memory of the fact that KU was ranked and OU wasn't. KU was 5-1 and OU was 3-2-1.

On Oct. 21, 1995, No. 7 KU beat No. 15 OU in Norman, 38-17. KU was 6-0 and OU was 4-1-1.

KU won in the first two Big 12 meetings (96-97), but OU is 5-0 since.

Except for the empty seats, on a Thursday night, in a 80,000+ seat stadium. C'mon man, really? We are still struggling to fill 50,000 (although we've done it for the first two and I imagine we will for the rest), and you are criticizing S. Car. fans?

And as for the goalposts that are lowered, I know for a fact that some schools, including Iowa, started doing that in the late 90s early 2000s. Not a lot of schools have them I don't think, but they seem like a good idea. It doesn't seem to me that goalposts get torn down as much as they used to.......maybe it's just me.

Actually, I'm criticizing Ole Miss fans. The empty seats appeared to be in the visitors section. It's tougher to travel for a Thursday night road game.
I'm all for setting up a device to lower the goalposts, but Lew could save the money if fans realized we've moved past that point.
In 1994, K-State won a Thursday night ESPN game at KU, which was the second win over the Hawks in their much-celebrated decade of dominance. Their fans broke the railing in the north end zone and ripped down the goal post, then tried to take the one on the south end.
Could have used the lowering device that night. And a taser or 20.

Don't you mean a shotgun?

My point simply was that after Thursday night games, SOME students still go to class the next day. Some families have work and school the next day. And when you figure in the fact that the game was on the east coast, it ended at about 10:30 (IIRC) their time. That's not even factoring in the traffic jams that would accompany a crowd of 70-80,000 people all leaving at the same time. I noticed the nosebleed seats were spotty, but there are a lot of factors that played into I think.

Unless/until we have a waiting list for tickets in our 50,000 seat stadium, it's gonna be hard to criticize fans of any other school for not supporting their team. Same point exists unless/until our students start staying past the 10 minute mark in the third quarter.

They cost a ton...most schools collapse them and surround them with security...not just you.
