Ranked behind seven 1 loss teams. 2 in our own conference.

Oh well, I think getting to 7-0 (difficult, but possible) will put KU in the Top 7-8

I'm not promoting the Huskers, but, by simple logic, with Nebraska losing by one point to Va. Tech, why should Nebraska now be ranked 12 spots lower (than Va. Tech)?

But whoever said that college football polling was entirely rational?

Uh 12? I see a 6 spot drop in both polls?

Utah on the other hand drops from 18th to getting only 12 votes in the AP, wow, thats quite a drop (not that i don't agree)

Wow.

Seems like he's pretty dedicated to voting based on on-the-field results as opposed to public opinion on who is best. While I respect that on a certain level, it does make for some bizarre voting early in the season.

Again, it doesn't really matter at all what we or anyone else is ranked at this point. As long as our name scrolls across the bottom as a top 25 team (whatever the exact number might be), that's all we need. Keep winning games and taking care of business and the rankings will come.

If we are 6-0 and knock off OU, we really ought to be top 10 if not higher. THEN, it might start to matter, but of course, that's more than half way through the season.

Sorry to burst any bubbles but the rankings only matter for BCS Bowls. Does anyone here actually think KU will qualify for a BCS Bowl this year???? I think it might be more appropriate to worry about finishing at the top of the North and where you rank in the Big 12 for the best possible bowl scenario.

I don't know if you're aware of this, but if KU wins the North and beats the South winner, KU qualifies for a BCS bowl.

Uh, yeah, I'm not sure any of us were saying anything different than that. Let me check...........yep, I said it didn't really matter a whole lot where we were ranked as long we are in the top 25 and get our name and scores crawling across the bottom of ESPN.

Let's go to the Cotton. Much more prestigious, much easier to get to, and who cares if we can recruit in El Paso? Let's go to Dallas. I think that's a fairly realistic projection and I wouldn't mind that at all, especially if we do win the north.

Historically, probably the Cotton Bowl, but the last decade or so, maybe the Holiday. Usually a good game, entertaining, and probably pays fairly well. Either of those would be just fine with me, although Dallas is much easier to get to on a budget.

I'm all for aiming high, but I'm also a realist. We COULD make a run like 2007, but more than likely Dallas or San Diego would be a very attainable, and acceptable, goal.

I'd be good with the Gator Bowl. I live in the area and know a member of their selection committee that would allow me to get into the practices and on the field prior to the game.

Sorry steve, I wasn't sure, I was just going off of Big12sports.com (This is from last year though)

Quote:

2008-09 Bowl Agreements

The Big 12 has always assured its teams are able to participate in some of the top bowl games at the conclusion of each regular season. There will be no change in that situation for the league's 13th year.

In addition to its membership in the Bowl Championship Series, the Big 12 will have agreements with seven other bowl games in place for 2008-09. Last season, the Big 12 had eight squads take part in postseason competition. It marked the eighth straight year at least seven of its teams have played in a bowl. Overall, the conference has sent 83 teams to bowl games in its 12-year history.

Again this season, the Big 12 has eight bowl slots guaranteed. The Conference is partnered with nine bowls. However the arrangement with the Gator Bowl is for it to select a Big 12 team twice over a four-year period. In the two years in which the Gator does not select a Big 12 team, the Sun Bowl will.

If they changed it since last year, then by all means, Flordia is open for possibility as well.

Look for the Cotton to become one of the elite bowls again when the next BCS shuffle is made--now that the game is being moved to J. Jones' new super-stadium.

I think it's rediculous for fans to be projecting KU into particular bowl games at this point.

Our goal, and rightfully so, should be to Win the North. If we accomplish that goal, we will then be one game away from a much bigger goal than most here are willing to consider.

That's why it's always best to simply focus on the next game on the schedule. Southern Mississippi is the next obstacal. Let's get another sellout, pack the house, and have this be the loudest game we've ever had.

Anyone know how many tickets are left for this one?
