Walz has made three appearances for the National Team this summer compiling a 2-0 record with a 1.59 ERA over 11.1 innings of work. He has struck out 17 while walking only two batters. Opponents are hitting a meager.167 against him. It looks as if Walz is primed for a solid season next spring.

Kansas right-hander T.J. Walz showed an average fastball and no average secondary pitch, although he has good deception in his delivery.

what level of competion is he facing? is it as good as D 1 college baseball?

Usually the competition is the same if not better. I have not had the chance to analyze the foreign rosters, however last year the national team played several of the Olympic teams (Cuba etc.) and simply shut them down. With all of that being said, usually National Team Baseball favors pitching, similiar to the Cape Cod Leagues...
