So with Gordon coming back with the second half of the season left, what do you think his impact on the team will be? I, for one, have placed any and all reasonless hope into his return igniting the team. Realistically though, when he returns, the defensive setup will have to be changed. I think our defense will improve to the point where maybe we won't want to scream every other night at the defense. Offensively? I have no idea. I have always believed that Alex and Billy fed off each other. Here's to hoping Alex Gordon comes back and tears it up.

Even if that happens...too much ground to cover.

Maybe, maybe not. The Royals are on one of the most important stretches of the season right now. The thinking is, if we can get a sweep and take two of three from the other two series, you gotta like where we're sitting. Not that there's any chance of that happening. But hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

it would be great if Gordon's return could provide a spark. im just hoping for consistant competitive baseball for the second half. ill still be going out to the games one way or the other, but it will be more fun if they can make a little noise.

Gordon to this point is a bust. Still time for him but the window is closing.

Defense.....yeah right.

Royals = done and I say that with no joy. Just another season of pain and disappointment for this Royals fan.

Thank God Gordon is returning!!!! You know, he always returns from the DL on a hot streak. He might even lead us all the way to the playoffs.

Wait...that's George Brett I'm thinking of.

Well, I still believe in AG, but Zack had shown flashes of brilliance at the major league level at this point. Gordon hasn't really. Time's still on his side.

Greinke was much younger when he was drafted, so that is an unfair comparison to make for a guy who made his major league debut at 20-21 compared to Gordon who made his at 23-24

Greinke showed way more progress early on, as in his first season he had a 3.94 ERA and even 2 years ago he had a 3.69
ERA .....thats very serviceable...unlike gordon who hit .247 his first season

Greinke was just a headcase and it threatened his career, but when his head was there, so was his stuff

as for Gordon, the guy will be a bust and he is currently. Until he gets out of the HR or K mentality, it will haunt him forever

Gordon had a decent second season, showed enough to believe this would have been a break out year.

+1, Gordon might never be the exact player I thought he was (David Wright clone) but I still think he can make a few all-star games if he can cut down the worthless outs he has alot of the time. Think of it this way, if Brandon Inge can do what he is doing right now I figure Gordon has a punchers chance.

What do you equate a 3.94 ERA to in batting average? I figure about .275. So in that logic you are right. I just wish the guy could have made an Evan Longoria kind of impact right away so we wouldn't have to be talking about another potentially failed super prospect from the farm system. What's your thoughts on the speed it took him to get to the majors?
