Can people for the love of all things holy NOT do the Rock Chalk chant when we're only up by 2 possessions with 1:30 left.

Jesus, I wanted to pull my damn hair out.

Yes! That drove me nuts. Wait until the game was in hand (which tonight was when the clock read zero.)

Thanks for that list. According to the release for this game, we actually had 7,069 for the Think Pink game against Iowa State this year, so we have had two top 10 games in terms of attendance this season.

Updated ... I was going from the media guide, which obviously was printed before the season started.

Yes, I own a women's basketball media guide!

I've been to about half of these games!!

Just curious as to why the Colorado game in 1994 is the highest attendance in KU womens b-ball history? What was the special occasion for that?

It was called "Fill the Fieldhouse" ... that was the first, I was there in the basketball band.

They had a least 2-3 more ...

Keep in mind that the 1994 game was not a paid record. A canned food donation got you in the door in 94.

Its obvious they haven't been to a women's game and now that the score can change just like that. If the game is close on Saturday, I'm sure they won't make the same mistake.

The band was trying not to say it, but we had to follow the cheerleaders and rock chalk dancers.

The cheerleaders and rock chalk dancers do NOT boss the band around.

The band follows the instructions of the band director, nobody else.

Glad to say I was part of the crowd! I'll be recruiting more friends to make the trek down on Saturday. I gotta say, I was really disappointed with the number of students there...

Hoping having the game on the weekend will help out with attendance, I'm making a day out of it.

1. Don't blame the students for the chant there were only about 3 of them there last night. There many empty seats at the ends of the court on the floor level. And a good number of those were not students. Since it was GA everywhere the student "wanna bes" could sit in the ends.

3. While I'm ranting I thought they did the Alma Mater and Chant right after the national anthem. This was not the case last night.

4. A good number of people left after half time (which just happens to be the time when the mene's team was supposed to be signing autographs) I didn't go down to see if they actuall were signing. Credit Matt Kleinmann for staying for the whole game. He was sitting at the end of the court near Big Lew so I don't know if other men's team members were there until the end.

5. I was impressed with Danielle McCray!

6. Lew Perkins is a big guy.

And the director told us to follow what the Dancers and Cheerleaders were doing. If they were shouting out "Defense" or "Kay-ay-ay-ay U-U!" or (Noise), then we were suppose to follow them. They were doing the chant, and we followed (although we felt unsure and quickly stopped anyways).

Ah, well, it was all good. I'm sure the students realized then it was not the time to do the chant, and I'm sure they won't make that same mistake on Saturday if its a close game.

The important thing is... fill AFH to its max on Saturday and by the end of the day - get a Championship Trophy and a banner hung at the Fieldhouse.

At no time did the cheerleaders start or do Rock Chalk chant. Maybe the dancers that were in the stands but the people on the floor did not.

*Ahem* Athletics are expecting a record broken here on Saturday...

Traffic control enhanced for WNIT championship game on Saturday

LAWRENCE — Traffic control will be enhanced Saturday, April 4, near Allen Fieldhouse for the Women’s National Invitation Tournament championship game, according to the Public Safety Office at the University of Kansas.

Fans should expect traffic patterns similar to those that are used at a regular season men’s basketball game. Officers will provide traffic control at key intersections before and after the game. Some streets immediately around Allen Fieldhouse will be one-way only after the game.

To avoid delays, people attending the game should plan to arrive early. Doors to Allen Fieldhouse will open at 11:30 a.m. Game time is 1 p.m.

The Jayhawks’ WNIT semifinal victory over Illinois State on Wednesday night drew 8,360 fans, the fifth-largest crowd ever for a KU women’s game. Kansas Athletics officials hope Saturday’s crowd breaks the record of 13,352, which was set when KU played Colorado in January 1994.
