I have a buddy from Texas (Big mistake, huh?)who went on ebay and got me a black and white photo of who he thought was an old KU basketball coach talking to his players. Problem is...it's not a KU basketball coach. The more I studied the picture, I found a track and field logo on one of the players standing in the background. So, I'm assuming it's a Track and field coach.

Anyway, I've been sittin on this picture dying to know more info. I don't have a scanner so I can't share the pic, but is there a website to go to OR some directory on a list of track and field coaches from the University of Kansas? I'm assuming this pic was taken in the 1960's...but I don't know for sure?

I agree with WDNR. Bill Easton and Wes Santee in the early fifties when Santee (Ashland,Ks) was the fastest miler in the world.

Easton coached many Champions (Nieder, Oerter,Mills, etc). When Jim Ryun decided to go to Oregon rather than to KU Easton was fired over trumped up charges related to the purchase of a pole vault pit from a company he and Santee owned. KU hired Timmons who was Ryun's HS coach!Ryun then announced he was coming to KU.

I wonder if Dr. Naismith was more successful at track than he was at basketball?
