"...count on the morons in your base and the exhaustion of the rest of America."
The radical right has made sufficient 'progress' that Democracy currently exists only in theory. But the "morons" persist with faith.

I'd be curious to know the specifics here. What has the "radical right" done SPECIFICALLY to inhibit democracy?

Give me … voter ID laws for a two hundred Alex. Hold on, give me closing of voting sites and fewer voting days in minority areas for 400 No, wait, give me post-losing- election revocation of gubernatorial powers for 600 No, hold on, give me refusal to honor presidential powers to nominate Supreme Court justices for 800. Eff it, give me gerrymandering for a thousand. Goldarnit, give me Republican refusal to honor oversight obligations for a gajillion. Give me, whatever the eff the Prez wants to do is great by us for one bazillion. Give me nothing [censored] matters because Republican nihilism for two bazillion

I'm so sorry this is happening to you.
Narrator: None of those has actually destroyed our democracy. And, indeed, some are figments of poor Mr. Fenton's imagination.

Dang it Alex
I thought the question was what had they done to inhibit Democracy. Can we go back to the transcripts?

Going to the transcripts would be kinda silly, since, as the narrator noted, none of that is GOP-instigated democracy destruction. The narrator is never wrong, after all.
If we did go to the transcripts, though, they would show that the issue was whether democracy "currently exists only in theory."
I suppose, in a sense, that that's the case. But then, it's never existed anywhere, except in theory, particularly here in the good ol' U.S. of A.
Strangely, though, given his distaste for the canaille, I'm surprised Mr. Fenton can find it in his heart to feign sympathy for democracy.

Give me ... the President of the U S asking a foreign country for help in getting “dirt” on his political opponent and admitting it TO THE WORLD for ... whatever’s left in the bank, Alex!

Give me voter role purges Alex Give me a Senate refusing to bring Congressional bills up for votes. Give me defying lawful subpoenas Give me an AG routinely colluding with the President on his behalf. Give me a refusal to hold press conferences.
That’s all I got Alex. Besides I feel the gravitational pull of a long dormant rabbit hole. Gotta scram!

With the possible exception of the voter role issue (which is largely fanciful), none of those things has anything at all to do with democracy.
I mean...the Senate is a republican institution, designed SPECIFICALLY to thwart the democratic urges of the people.
Defying lawful subpoenas? Wonder where they got the idea that would be OK? You ever heard of a guy named Eric Holder?
AG colluding with the Prez? You have facts or conspiracies? And if you have facts, didn't Sirhan Sirhan already address this problem?
Press conferences? lulz
If indeed that's all you got, then you shoulda let Appy answer for himself.
You've been down some rabbit holes lately, but none of them have much to do with me.
He broke you.

Give me ... the President of the U S asking a foreign country for help in getting “dirt” on his political opponent and admitting it TO THE WORLD for ... whatever’s left in the bank, Alex! Again, not a "democratic" issue at all. If it happened as you believe, and if it is therefore demonstrative of a violation of oath and/or law -- both of which could, very well, be real possibilities -- then a remedy exists for that. The idea that it doesn't is an indictment of the House leadership more than anyone/anything else. Broken.

This seems pretty succinct, but maybe they aren't real patriots. Somebody should check their Patriot Certificates before buying into this.
