1st Junior Day for the 2020 class is this coming weekend! I expect Miles and company to have some really good ones coming in. Heard they are concentrating more on local recruits with the 1st Junior Day while the 2nd one on Feb. 23 will be more concentrated on out of state recruits.
Recruiting never ends man!
Here's a few of the early offers for 2020.
Ashaad Clayton a 6'0" 190lbs. 4 star RB out of Warren Easton HS in New Orleans, LA. He's rated the #12 best RB in the country by Rivals as well as the #135 best recruit overall also by Rivals. We all know KU's tie to Warren Easton and that's coach Hull. Hull still doin some good work for us and Ashaad is coming up for our 2nd Junior Day on the 23rd of this month. I think he's one of our top targets for this class and I feel KU has a good shot with him.
Sedrick Van Pran a 6'4" 285lbs. 4 star OG out of Warren Easton HS in New Orleans. Again, coach Hull doin some work! He's a teammate of Ashaad and I believe there's a chance he comes along with Ashaad (and maybe a couple others) on the 23rd of this month for our 2nd Junior Day. He's got about 2 dozen offers already and he's rated the #119 overall prospect in the nation and #4 OG in the nation as well as the #4 rated recruit in the state of Louisiana by Rivals right now. Kid is a stud and would be a huge get for us if we could land him somehow. I think we'll be hearing more on him and KU over the coming months.
Turner Corcoran a 6'6" 270lbs. 4 star OT out of Lawrence Free State HS. Kid has a ton of offers/interest already and is rated as the #46 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals. Word on the street a month or 2 ago was he was set on going to a blue blood out of state type school somewhere. Don't know if coach Miles and company can change his mind or not, but I haven't heard anything on that front since I heard about him wanting to go out of state and to a blue blood type school. He's going to our Junior Day this coming weekend which should help give him more to think about in regards to staying home at KU. If the coaches can't change his mind, it won't be for a lack of trying. I think how our upcoming season looks will play a part in this also.
Myles Slusher a 6'0" 175lbs. 4 star CB out of Broken Arrow HS in Broken Arrow, OK. He's a teammate of recent KU signee Gavin Potter and already has about a dozen and a half offers. Don't know how close he and Potter are, but I don't think it could hurt having Gavin already committed here. Arkansas seems to be 1 of the more active teams on him right now. I won't be surprised if he makes an unofficial visit to KU this year though.
Ky Thomas a 5'11" 195lbs. 3 star RB out of Topeka HS in Topeka. KU, Iowa, Minnesota, and ksu have already offered him. Not sure when his offer from KU went out, but he's been on KU's radar for a couple of years now so both the previous staff and this one have been on him. He's going to be at our Junior Day on the 23 of this month. Rivals rates him as the #5 prospect in the state of Kansas for the 2020 class.
Nate Matlack a 6'4" 210lbs. 3 star WDE out of Olathe East HS in Olathe. He's rated as the #4 prospect in the state of Kansas by Rivals. He's already got offers from both KU and ksu as well as Syracuse. Kid looks active in his videos and high energy. He's gonna be here for our Junior Day this weekend. I heard some word in passing a couple months ago his family are ksu fans, but don't know of the accuracy of that.
Roger Rosengarten a 6'7" 275lbs. high 3 star OT out of Valor Christian HS in Highland Ranch, CO. He's got about 2 dozen offers already and I believe KU was 1 of his earlier ones. I seem to remember he got an offer from KU within the first few weeks coach Miles was on the job, but I could be wrong. Don't know much about him or his interest in KU, but he's a good one.
Dontae Manning a 6'0" 180lbs. 3 star CB out of Raytown HS in Raytown, MO. He's already got offers from KU, Okie Lite, ND, Nebraska, ISU, ksu, Iowa, and missery to name a few. He looks to be 1 of the top prospects in the KC area. He'll be here for our Junior Day this weekend. Only word I heard on him was months ago before our coaching change and that was that KU wasn't high on his list at that time. I imagine that's changed since then, but I don't know for sure.
Tayezhan Crough a 6'0" 175lbs. 3 star S out of Hutchinson HS in Hutchinson. Don't know much about him really, except that KU is his only official offer at this point in time. Heard he plans to be at 1 of our Junior Days, but that's really all I know about him right now. Rivals shows the corn and ksu are showing interest as well.
Daniel Jackson a 6'0" 180lbs. high 3 star WR out of Bishop Miege HS in Roeland Park, KS. He's got about a dozen P-5 offers already, including KU, ND, Wisconsin, Tennessee, aTm, ISU, Iowa, ksu, and missery to name a few. Rivals rates him as the #2 prospect in Kansas and he's 1 of the top prospects in the KC metro area as well. I believe he's going to visit on our Junior day this weekend as well. Heard some whispers ND is in the lead for him, but I have no idea of the voracity of those whispers or not.
Hayden Pauls a 6'4" 245lbs. 3 star OT out of Emporia HS in Emporia, KS. He's rated the #3 prospect in the state of Kansas and he's already reporting about a half dozen P-5 offers including KU, Iowa, NU, ISU, ksu, and Minnesota to name a few. He'll be here for our Junior Day this weekend but I don't know much else about him. Haven't heard if he has any favorites or not either.
Jalen St. John a 6'4" 300lbs. 3 star OG out of Trinity Catholic HS in St. Louis, MO. He's got a little more than a half dozen offers already with obviously KU being 1 of them. Blanking on the coach right now (been a long day!), but 1 of KU's assistants was recruiting him or knew about him before being hired at KU and he was 1 of the first offers KU made once that assistant coach was hired.
Kevin Tyler a 6'5" 290lbs. 2 star OT out of Ritenour HS in Overland, MO (St. Louis area). He's already got a half dozen D-1 offers and I believe he's another one 1 of our assistants knew about before being hired by KU. I heard he was going to try and make it to a Junior Day here at KU, but that was weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since. He looks like a promising OT prospect who will undoubtedly pick up some more offers in the coming months.
Those are just some of the names floating around out there for our 2020 class. I chose some because they're already gonna be visiting KU, some because they're some of the top regional prospects with KU offers, and some because they're highly sought after national level guys who are giving KU serious consideration and/or planning visits.
I'm sure there's gonna be a lot more names pop up in the next few weeks as our Junior Days come around as well as guys mentioning us on social media when we offer them. Enjoy!
*Edited to update some of the info on a couple of the guys.
