Probably the best pre-season write-up I've seen from an opponents point of view.

It should be an interesting year. I am not getting my hopes up just because I have been burned before. That said I am happy with the direction of the team. I could see this team bowling or it could be more of the same. Depth may be the biggest factor that holds KU back. I know this. It is going to be fun!

“... or it could be more of the same”
More of the same is NOT going to be fun. I am tired of ineptness on offense and getting gutted on defense. We need to show we can move the ball against Big 12 opponents and be effective in stopping them too. I can live without the wins but we have to be more competitive than we have been the last 10 years.... but we need 5 wins minimum to call it fun. Losing by 30 or losing by one, it’s still losing and losing is not fun.

Nine one point loses would be much more exciting than nine 30 point loses. It would mean that we'd be excited during those nine games, pulling for a win. It would mean that either our offense or defense or both were right in the midst of the battle. It would mean that we were playing our high octane Big XII teams down to the wire. It would mean that there's decidedly good improvement over the past 10 years. All this should create some excitement, at least for Miles' first year. Now for the second year . . . not so much. I am expecting more wins though. That will be exciting.

Ten years of losses don’t excite me. It would be a continuation of the Betty era. Miles would not survive it.

Exciting....Ok I can agree with that....but Fun...NO. Losing is not fun no matter how close the score.

Since you say that, "we need 5 wins minimum to call it fun," I'm thinking that you just might have some fun this year. I believe 5 wins is quite possible. It might be a long stretch, but possible.

I am not anticipating 5 wins, more like 3, but 5 would be excellent.

I think we have a shot at beating WV. A saw a poll recently and had them finishing 9th.

I see there is a site giving us an 80-1 odds of winning the conference. So they're saying there is a chance.

The biggest key is how our quarterback clicks. Part of that rests upon the shoulders of our O line. I've read where they are becoming much more physical. Good improvement there opens up the offense as our runners have a better chance of doing well and that opens up the potential for our receivers. More time with the offense on the field better helps our defense. No one should be thinking in terms of a championship, but more improvement is very likely and five wins is a possibility if everything clicks.

The articles are nice and they are doing better in practice against our defense. I'll feel more optimistic about it when I see them actually do it in a game against big 12 opponents. To me, this time of year, I always wonder if our o-line is better or is our d-line not very good?
