Just heard Kwamie Lassiter died today.

Apparently he passed away suddenly while working out on the treadmill which suggest a sudden heart attack.

Very sad news. He was one of my favorite players at KU during the time he was here.

Thoughts and prayers going out to his family, especially to Kwamie Lassiter II.

Arizona Cardinals official release about his sudden passing.

"Lassiter arrived in Arizona as a 26-year-old rookie in 1995 out of the University of Kansas. He eventually worked his way into the starting lineup, grabbing eight interceptions in 1998 -- including his huge performance against the Chargers in the final game. Those four picks helped the Cardinals to a dramatic 16-13 win at home at Sun Devil Stadium to propel the Cards into the playoffs for the first time since moving to Arizona."

I also thought of him as one of my favorites to play at Kansas. With our generally poor record over the years back then, safeties at KU got more of a workout during the games. We have had some good NFL secondary players out of the Mangino era too.

I got hit by him a few times in practice. I was a walk on in 94 and 95. I remember Mason asking who remembers beating k state and only Kwamie raised his hand.
