It's my understanding they have created 12 new support staff positions. There might be a spot for Bowen somewhere.

Hull is a 'must keep'.

Pooka Williams, Corione Harris, Mike Lee. Hull is RB coach which has been our best performing position.

I haven't heard anything that would lead me to believe Kingsbury would be interested nor that Miles has reached out to him to join the new staff here at KU.

There is a ton of stuff coming out of Carolina about Fedora joining the staff. A couple of UNC insider types are claiming it's already a done deal that Fedora will be joining Miles's staff here at KU. I haven't heard anything on the KU side yet that backs that up, but that doesn't mean anything as I haven't heard much at all from the KU side. The new AD and Miles have done a great job of keeping things really tight to the chest.

FWIW, I was listening to sports radio here in Nashville, and Andy Staples was asked about Hugh Freeze and where he thought he would end up, and he said he felt Kansas would be the place.

Apparently, he's not being considered for the Vols O.C. position, even though it's not clear if he would pursue a non Power 5 school for a head coaching job....

Here is my question has Bowen done enough to retain his Job with the defensive improvements this year, or would you just clean slate it and bring someone new in? If so Who is a Home run hire Defensive Coordinator that you would bring in?

I know a lot of people on this board hate Bowen. I thin he has done a good job with what he has been given and with NO support from the offense (this year was better on offense). That said Bowen has been here for the bad times and is tainted. I think you need to start from scratch and clean house. Hopefully he catches on somewhere else.

Don't think Bowen is going to be retained as I've been hearing Miles has been in contact with a few different potential DC's already.

Miles did interview all of the previous staff that wanted a chance to stay though and at least 1 or 2 have been retained so far. Haven't heard that Bowen is one of them.

Yes. He's already been out recruiting for coach Miles for a few days even. Coach Hull is a stud and natural leader of young men. Good move by coach Miles to retain him.

Yepper.Retaining Hull gives me 2 boxes to check. First that Hull is retained, which I considered essential, and a second in support of Miles for starting out by making the right moves. Gives me confidence he will make solid choices in filling out his staff.

I don't see him leaving. I think he likes KU. He stayed through the rough times, and it looks like it is going to get better. Plus it sounds like the assistants are going to get a bump in pay. He may end up leaving, but I would bet against it.

Amazing how people think everyone thinks and feels like they do.
Examples: Players and coaches will want to stay because Les is so much better than DB. Players will want to stay because KU is such a great place. They think players signed to play at KU because of the school or the city. News flash: they signed because they wanted to play for DB and his staff. If Hull or any of the players want to leave, the fans should not be offended or upset.

I am not going to be offended, but I guess I would be a bit surprised he did leave. Now who knows what motivates Hull, or what other opportunities are out there. Maybe he does leave, but as I said I would bet against it.

Good points that need to be remembered by all.

Don't forget that Hull was actually the Asst HEAD Coach under DB. He will not likely hold on to a title like that with Miles. But another thing to remember, NO ONE IS IRREPLACEABLE. People B&M'd about losing our previous recruiting stud assistant, Reggie Mitchell, then along comes Hull. If Hull doesn't want to stay, that's his decision.

Another thing not to forget is schollies are effectively one year contracts, Miles could end up sending some kids packing as well. I don't think we'll see a Weis type exodus of players, but I'm sure some will bolt and also sure Miles might not want a few. Fans need to remember the ultimate goal when those shoes start to drop.

Hull came here because DB asked him to. But he may see this as an opportunity in his coaching career. Miles will need to hand it off to someone in a few years. Don't know if Hull would be up to it or not. He did work for NASA for a few years so he's got the smarts for it.

You got it pard. Link fixed.

I like Fisch, but doubt he would leave Rams position for a similar spot at KU.

Nobody here seems offended about the players or coaches leaving or not leaving. Except for DB leaving, which is making everyone happy about his leaving.

WTF are you talking about?

Miller is good as a LB coach and personally, I think Bowen is good as a DC. KU hasn't exactly recruited top talent on defense and I think Bowen did well with the hand dealt, especially when one looks at how pathetic the offense was and how much time the D spent on the field these past four years. Clint's love of KU should be awarded with SOMETHING, somewhere!

I too really like coach Miller and it's been known he wants to retire at KU/in Lawrence so I bet he wants to stay on.

Also hearing that Bowen wants to stay on at KU/in Lawrence and is willing to stay on at just about any level that Miles is willing to keep him on at.

Last I heard coach Hull will be retained if he chooses to stay, but also hearing he's been getting a good amount of interest from some other programs. Don't think he or KU have made a final decision one way or the other yet. I'd love for him to stay as I think he's not only a very good recruiter (something Miles has said he wants in all of his assistant coaches) but I think he's also a very good coach.

I also like Woodfin quite a bit, but have been hearing some other names being floated around as S&C coaches. Believe he and Lindsey know each other already from previous jobs and that may help, but I really haven't heard 1 way or the other if he'll have the chance to stay on or not.
