He's got quite a few ties in Mississippi and Alabama as well as some in Louisiana. I haven't heard any specifics about Georgia ties, but wouldn't be surprised if he has some there too.

Statistical support for that. Not sure how Bama vs OU could be considered any kind barometer...
Lindsey wasn't cast off at Auburn. He was "fired" once it was made known he was in talks to leave. Auburn "fired" him to save face from losing him to another school.

Quite a bit of turmoil internally down there at Auburn on that coaching staff from what I hear.

Getting fired makes one a castoff in my book. Sure, there can be extenuating circumstances. In this case, as you suggest in the last line, I heard Lindsey objected to Mulz interfering with Lindsey's offense. I found that to be interesting. Miles doubtless knows that, but he hired Lindsey anyway. I presume that means he gave Lindsey assurances to having a free hand with the offense.
Also interesting to note from Miles comments he is somewhat of a defense first guy. I like that. Kind of an 'against the grain' move given the current offense over all thing going on in our conference. At any rate I'm very interested to see what happens with choice for DOC.

Solid choice.
Your Littrell comment disqualifies you from having an opinion. Miles is a home run hire.

Tap the brakes, Hombre. We'll be able to label this a "home run" hire once we return to a Bowl game.... There's a reason KSU is phoning Seth Littrell....

Good link and interesting quote near the end of the article from a source who says, "I don't think he [Littrell] can turn down a Big XII offer."

I wouldn't consider him a castoff as he wouldn't have been fired if he wanted to stay at Auburn.

It was more like a, "I'm interviewing with other schools and won't be returning."

Answered with, "What? Nuh uh...oh you're fired first. We win!"

Saved KU some buyout $$ happening that way, which is nice.

This hombre says THIS IS A HR HIRE. You mis-understand the meaning. He was a nationally known quantity. We were not. Time will tell if he is a turn around specialist. If you think KU and KSU are starting out on equal footing, in order to say Littrell (Gameball 2.0) is better, go ahead with that. Littrell is an unknown quantity on the P5 conference HC level as of yesterday, correct?

"Sources with knowledge of the situation have told the Denton Record-Chronicle over the last several days that Littrell's departure for Kansas State is far from a certainty."

Lindsey may be a good sign that Miles is willing to adapt his offensive philosophy.

Any rumors or ideas about who will run the defense?

Another SEC guy? Still a lot of folks to add to the staff in the way of position coaches

I saw talk on twitter about Nate Woody, the current Georgia Tech DC. Georgia Tech's HC is retiring, so naturally he would be looking at his options. Over at Hawk Jock they have posted a nice summary of DC options. https://hawkjock.com/defensive-coordinator-candidates/

Was hearing a couple of days ago we were in final negotiations with a DC and an announcement would probably happen today(Friday) or tomorrow(Saturday), but haven't heard anymore info about that since Monday or Tuesday. Makes me wonder if those final negotiations fell through or are taking a bit longer than previously expected or maybe the coach is currently employed still and doesn't want anything to come out until after their current team's bowl game is over.
