Great Expectations! No, not the book by Dickens, this Season by the Jayhawks. I’m always excited about each and every Jayhawk basketball season. This year is no exception, except I’m more excited than ever. I have Great Expectations! Here’s the possibilities I’m excited about and pretty much in order of what I hope we accomplish: (1. National Champs (2. Number 15 conference champs (3. Conference tourney champs (4. Undefeated non-conference season (5. Undefeated conference season (6. Undefeated season. Of course the last one would result in all of the other five happening, but it is certainly the most difficult to accomplish.

Yes, no easy task for any one of these. To do all six, highly improbable. Can we do it? If three things happen, it is very possible: (1. The team jells together quickly (2. The team doesn’t take any games off (3. A fortunate break here and there. For example–every team is going to have an off night or at least a sub par game, not at your best. A fortunate break is the other team not having a great night.

Damm...Farmer Ted found his way out of the back 40. Crops must been harvested. Expect more lengthy diatribes about KU hoops. Of course every true fans hope for the best. I am not getting too wound up already..probably will around October. Doubt if this team will accomplish all the things that the ancient farmer wishes for...I will take the Natty over any of the others. KU needs it to remain at elite status...

I forgot that my phoggy friend's mind gets really foggy after two lines. At least we agree on our top priority--a national championship. Doubtless he agrees that # 6 is nearly impossible. Oops, sorry, went beyond the two lines! grin

Tired lengthy diatribes is what you do....not much else to do out in the western Kansas hinderlands. Thats ok..here is my predictions...15 straight regular season conference title..yes...Final 4 ..yes..Natty maybe....undefeated conference and non conference...probably not.

Phogusher I find your remarks disrespectful and annoying. Kansas is a great state, west and east, not just in the area you feel only the elite live in.

Phogusher likes to sound really tough and harsh, but he's actually a Teddy Bear. He just likes to growl a lot.

Just how tough is it to accomplish the goals suggested? I’ve given the last time such a goal has been achieved, how often we’ve achieved such goals and I’ve ranked the toughness of them from easy to extremely difficult:

1. NCAA National tourney Champs – last time - 2008, three total, difficult.
2. #15 Conference Champs – holds current record @ 14, 18 of last 22 years in Big 12, holds NCAA record at 62, fairly easy.
3. Conference Tourney Champs– last time 2018, 11 of last 22 years in Big 12, 50/50, somewhat easy or moderately difficult.
4. Undefeated non-conference season – last time 2008, 12 times total, difficult.
5. Undefeated conference season – last time 2002, 4 times total, quite difficult.
6. Undefeated season – done 7 times by 4 teams, last time 1976 by Indiana, extremely difficult.

Uhhh western plowbillies speak for yourselves. Of course I am elite...but so is KU hoops. But nobody will ever go undefeated again. So again I rather have tbe Natty...even over 15 in a row....we already have the record...and no other team is close to breaking it...so think McPlowbillies...THINK.

40-0 is extremely difficult. It may be done some day.

Indiana was 32-0
Wichita St was 35-0 then lost to Kentucky 35-1
Kentucky made it to 38-0 lost to Wisconsin in the FF 38-1

40 games makes it tough, OOC scheduling makes a difference
Seeding has to fall into place and you have to hope officials are fair and on top of the game.
Players start thinking about it once the media is all over the possibility, you have to hope they can handle it.
Must stay injury free.- rotation players and starters.

I think you either don't read or can't read. I listed the "Natty" as the # 1 priority, yes, even over 15 in a row. But even in having the national tourney as the # 1 goal, I'd take the undefeated season over that since it would include the national championship as well as all of the other goals. However, 15 in a row would be great as it would make it that much harder for another team to ever better it. That's why it's listed as # 2.

I forgot to mention going 40-0 you also have to hope all players stay eligible. That goes for all of us except dUKe, they make the rules I think. Bagley’s family was living in a Nike paid multi million dollar home in beautiful Southern California with an ocean view. Nothing happens, on the Kentucky message boards we were wondering if he could get cleared. He switched schools to a basketball factory with many classes no getting accredited. We thought it would be worth it to try. He goes to dUKe and he’s declared eligible within 2 weeks.

iu was unbeaten the year before their undefeated season until losing scott may to a broken arm and dropping their regional final to uk. that was the best basketball team i ever witnessed in all my years. al mcquire called them the best ever as well.
