Graham left Parker in a great situation and Parker is doing a good job since he took over.

Parker hired Medved to coach basketball and that was not an out of the blue hire. Medved had been an assistant coach at CSU from 2007 - 2012. He did a good job rebuilding at Furman. Then Medved was at Drake for 1 season and won 10 more games than the previous season which is a big improvement.

Parker has a lot of connections in the B12. He has worked for Texas, TT and OU. He also has worked for other P5 programs, Michigan and Washington State. His CSU bio shows all of the VIP seats sold out in the new CSU stadium. It also shows he was responsible for fund raising at Michigan. He also was at CSU during the building of their new stadium so he has experience with that process.

His weakness is that he has not hired any football coaches. Parker extended Bobo this year after he went 7-6 (5-3 Conf) in each of 3 prior seasons. CSU also has to pay a big buy out if they fire Bobo in the next few seasons. That was not a good contract negotiation for Parker. Parker stayed conservative extending Bobo and that decision was made based on having a new stadium to fill and $239 million in new stadium debt to pay off.

Utah Chris Hill is my choice if you can get him out of retirement.

Ray Tanner, the athletic director at the University of South Carolina, is my second choice.

I'm not saying he's terrible. I just don't see us dropping 1.5M to fire Zenger to hire a guy that's a single.

If we're spending that much to get rid of an AD, I expect us to swing for the fences and hire someone that has done it at the P5 level. Hire a CEO that's succeeded at the highest level.

We're a national brand, and we need to hire a national brand AD.

How about the AD Louisville fired?

My sources say differently. Currie micro-managed the program and him so he said see you later and took the first job available.

They went cheap with Zenger and Beaty so I am keeping my expectations reasonable with Parker. I also looked at other P5 ADs that we might have a shot at and most are new hires and not that impressive.

Realignment is coming around again and KU needs to have the football program in order and on the upswing for when that happens. High level AD, quality coach, 1st class football stadium, new indoor practice field, etc.

Hill just retired and spent his whole career at Utah. I do not see him as a viable candidate for KU.

Tanner was a college baseball coach until 2012. He has been at SC for 22 years so I do not see him making a move to KU. I would want someone with more experience running an athletics department than Tanner has. If KU is going to hire an ex-coach then at least get an ex-football coach like Mack Brown.

Bielema and Long both got fired.

They would be better than Beaty and Zenger, but Tom Jurich would be my pick if we're chasing unemployed ADs.
