My grandson Will Geary is at Virginia Beach for the national high school wrestling tournament and has thus far won all of his matches and has won the right to be labeled "All American". Today he wrestles a young man from New York for the 285 lb championship. Yesterday he defeated the heavy weight champion of Texas to reach the finals. Good luck Will!
As you are no doubt aware by now Will Geary won the Virginia Beach heavy weight wrestling championship this week and is being hotly pursued by a number of D-1 schools, including Big 12s and Cornell. While he stll has a preferred walk on offer from KSU I would hope his wrestling success would reopen the possibilty of a full scholarship offer from a D-1 program who sees the potential of a 285 lb all American wrestler and a 6A all state defensive lineman. (ask the Texas and NYC wrestlers he beat at VB if he's too short at 6-1)

The coaching staff's emotions and passions are worth watching even if you don't like wrestling. Tom Brands is a heck of a coach that can translate to business or another sport.
Following a trip to Ithaca NY my grandson (Will Geary) has decided that he'd rather be a KSU redshirt than a Cornell wrestler. It's his decision and we respect it. When I was his age I elected to enlist in the Army to qualify for the GI Bill. Different strokes folks!
KU did not offer him. KState did. I place more confidence in his knowing what's best for him than me. Only time will tell if he made the right decision. I am more regretful that he passed on a full ride wrestling scholarship at an Ivy league school than the fact that he won't be playing football for KU. In any event he's still just an 18 year old kid with the whole world in front of him. The more I stay out of his way the better for both of us!
Hi Maximus, Glad to found wrestling threat here and well carried by other members. I am a big fan of wrestling and Randy Orton and John Cena are my favorite wrestlers. Wrestling is great sport to tone body, makes body and mind active and keeps you physically fit.

Wrestling season is near and I'm excited.
You don't know, unless you have been a successful hardcore wrestler. "The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel who are trying to do things. Talent you have naturally, skill is only develop by hour and hours of working on your craft. No matter how talented you are, your talent is going to fail you if your not skilled. Cause it not about where you come from, its about heart." ~Jordan Burroughs
