My bad. I thought KUCO was referring to Bielema as a head coach and not an AD.

Ah. I was reading it you didn't want Jurich because he was fired.

I'm pretty meh on both Long and Bielema. I think Petrino was a great hire by Long until Petrino wrecked his motorcycle and all the extracurricular activities came out. Bielema never produced in the SEC.

SEC record was 29-32 that is decent enough for us at this stage. Bielema would be a huge get

What's the criteria for the new AD? I would like the new AD to check off these boxes.

1. Experience hiring successful head coaches for football
2. Experience with large fund raising projects like $300 million
3. Experience with financing and accounting so we do not waste big money like the LJW said happened on the renegotiation of RCP
4. Significant P5 experience in work history

I would add #5 They ability to not kiss anyone's ass and do what he thinks is for the greater good of the program

Criteria #1.

All mid-magers are not welcome as Zenger is an example.

Bielema finished 1-7 in the SEC last season. I see him like Weis and ND. If Bielema can't win at Arkansas then how is he going to win at KU?

12 years 97-58 record and 12-1 one year. A bit better than KSU dude for AD.

I am probably happy with anyone whose last name doesn't start with a "Z".

As opposed to what? P5 guys who have been fired? Most P5 AD's started as associate AD's and then moved on to mid-majors before moving up to P5.

A major conference AD getting a pay raise.

I gave two examples in this thread. My 2nd choice could and should be the next KU AD.

I am not David Booth. I am not a KU alumni that can make it happen, right now.

Let's say we cannot get a current P5 AD to take the job. Would you rather have a P5 Senior Assistant AD with a lot of experience or a mid-major AD that also has some P5 experience as an assistant AD?

Zenger came from FCS Illinois State. So I guess my answer would be a P5 Assistant AD with a lot of experience, especially with a football background in hiring successful coaches. Zenger had football background as recruiting coordinator but no administrative experience in a P5 before he came to KU.

I agree. KU needs someone that knows how to manage at the P5 level going into a rebuild of the stadium and hiring a new football coach.
