People are starting to get more highly leveraged again just as interest rates and home costs are rising. One of the reasons that new home costs are rising is the shortage of labor in certain trades. That will only get worse if Trump gets his way. But on the plus side for remorseless capitalists, get ready for the foreclosures to start hitting the market in the next year or so and house prices to drop. The rubes are about to lose a big chunk of their net worth again and you will be able to buy it for pennies on the dollar.

Concentration of immigrants in trades with labor shortages

So, what's your point?
Liberal media makes it sound like conservatives are against all types of immigration. That is ridiculous. Most citizens can trace there roots back to a different country. If you are going to talk about immigration then there has to be a distinction made between following the laws to get here and not following the laws. Voters can see right through the liberal media's facade.

The point is there are not enough legal immigrants to fuel our economy. The process is slow and costs more money than most immigrants can afford, therefore they use an illegal route and the construction industry hires them. Cracking down on construction workers is going to feed into inflation and slow down the economy. Voters will not need "the liberal media" to point any of this out. They will see it in the raising cost of homes and the lack of access to home loans. Bush understood this and pandered to the Fox News viewers and turned a blind eye to the issue. Trump may try to actually follow through on some of his bluster which will have negative effects on the people he is pandering to.

Not so sure the labor shortage is due to the lack of immigrants.

There are a number of OTHER factors involved here as stated in the article below. I don't think illegal immigrants are the answer to the labor shortage. Trump has already proposed a DACA solution for 1.8 million immigrants who have skirted the law (not necassarily by choice) if he can just get the Dems and Repubs to get their #hit together.

Other factors; Schedule preferences, absenteeism, drug use, work environment, HR professionals.

So you quote an article discussing the problems dealing with millennials in manufacturing and offices? They are talking about tech manufacturing/office workers, apples and oranges. There are no HR professionals and there is no schedule flexibility on a construction site. The one thing you can count on with the illegal crew on a job site is that they work harder than anyone else and they are not high. They can be fired with no repercussions to boss so they toe the line. The most valuable people on the job site are the supervisors who speak Spanish. If you want to see what rebar should look like when tied and properly spaced, walk onto any job site in Houston and say "Hola, muy buen trabajo".

And speaking of oranges, are you ready to start picking your own?

Yeah! Dow Jones back up, for now. No comment from Trumplethinskin during the fall but surely he will break twitter silence to tout how he personally "brought the Dow back from the brink" now. There is a slight, let's say 99.9% chance, it will drop precipitously again before he leaves office so maybe now is the time to stop taking credit for everything Dow in case blame also will follow? No, screw that, Hannity will blame the next fall on Obama as well so full steam ahead.

No. Have the Dreamers pick'em, you know Trump wants'em to be citizenized. (1.8 million)

Question; How much should an orange picker be paid, to be fair.

I don't own an orchard so have no idea what the market for oranges will bear.

Many of the dreamers have educations, they can make better money not picking oranges. I hear there are a lot of out of work coal miners in West Virginia with limited skills that translate to the modern economy. The sunshine might do them some good.
