The sentiment seems to be that they are both gone to the NFL. I do not blame a kid that can go make big $$ - they can always return to school to finish up a degree later.

This would also explain the focus on DL recruits.

Any info appreciated.

If you support Kansas football (which I doubt), you shouldn’t be pressing this issue. Nothing more here to see, MTB.

I believe the coaches think at least 1 of them is probably gone and that's in part why they're going after so many JUCO DL right now. To try and have a quality guy that is ready to go right now to fill 1 or maybe 2 of the spots Wise and Armstrong would have held if they come back.

Heard a few other good P-5 schools are after a couple of our recent commits or new offer guys in the JUCO DL ranks and they didn't really get involved until after KU had offered them. Seems some fellow P-5 coaches believe this staff at least still knows how to identify talent and are trying to poach some of these guys now.

The word around west LFK is that Dorance is gone.

Hearing he'll go first or second round. Can't turn that kind of money down especially with how short-lived most NFL careers are.
One more year at KU won't greatly improve his stock or pay.

Haven't heard much on Wise. No one really seems to be certain on his draft value.

The word around West Lawrence isn't as meaningful as the word going on in the league and that was his stock pre crap year. The last I saw in rankings he's about the 10th ranked edge rusher, putting him likely nowhere close to Rd 1 or 2.

This is really funny coming from someone who has done everything in his power to make Beatty's recruiting efforts more difficult.

Personally, I'm happy for Wise and Armstrong. Both success stories.

But whatever blows your dress, KUCO.

Totally agree: for the sake of the program, you want them to stay. OTOH, we all understand the allure of making more money in a few years than most people will make in their entire lives. #can'tblamethekids

Something the KU staff could never really accomplish.

Look for the Wise announcement tomorrow. Shoot, the ONLY part of the 129th ranked defense that was any good has walked(OK Dineen is good).

That's why we're recruiting JUCOs, guys.

It just so happens that Dorance, Wise, and Dineen all stood there and didn't shake Mayfield's hand and they are all HS recruits. Since it was SUCH A BIG DEAL, we started recruiting JUCO guys instead. We've never had a JUCO not shake hands with a guy that goes out of his way to ruffle people's feathers.

Beaty is just making sure it doesn't happen again.

I really hope he does something quick. The way two of you are reacting to it, I feel KU Athletics might go out of business because of it.

WE HAVE TO OVERREACT TO EVERYTHING! HOLY SHITSNACKS, BATMAN! THEY DIDN'T SHAKE HANDS! TO THE PIT OF MISERY!

Right? RIGHT?!?!

Dilly, dilly!

Give him a break. It was a mistake not to shake Bakers hand and then another mistake to not talk about it. Overall he seems like a good kid. He just made a couple mistakes that in the end hurt no one. We all make mistakes just most of us are fortunate enough to not have them on TV.

You can teach little kids to walk to the pregame coin flip, but then turn tail on handshakes any old time. Not my kid!

An example of Beaty losing his mind.

Literally, Beaty wasn't "there" but if he didn't keep his interest in the coin flip and shakes, let's just fire him now. He lost his reality sense for a while beyond the game's end as well. Tried to justify his captains decision. Then turned tail when the consensus was - bad idea.

Gawd I cleared that up for you.

Beaty wasn't part of the coinflip.

Adding your personal opinionated conjecture doesn't actually make anything clearer other than your biases being more important than fact.

Wise has to be either the most optimistic football player ever or is planning to complete his degree at Kansas, which I found to be a rock solid choice for me.

I think this is a good decision for him. My feeling is that Armstrong has a much better upside as a pro, but as a college player this past season Wise was much more consistent, he improved over the course of the season, and his effort was always good. Another year of work will serve him well if he doesn't get a major injury. He may never be All Pro, but every team needs those tough, consistent grinders who like getting paid NFL wages.

No one I've talked to on here or otherwise ever had a real idea where he'd go in the draft. I heard as high as the late third round and others guessed/suggested he'd go 6th to undrafted.

It's easy to see the dollar signs in that instance, but I'm glad he came back. Gotta hope it's a worthwhile decision for him (and KU).

It's easy to see the dollar signs in that instance, but I'm glad he came back. Gotta hope it's a worthwhile decision for him (and KU).

It's worth it to KU (as a program) if for no other reason than it's one less JUCO Beaty might sign in February.

We are seeing it's 4-5 yr (one yr left) transfers instead of 2-3 year eligible left over JUCOS. With so much criticism, why do you think he is still adamant about ignoring 4 year HS recruits?

His remaining supporters could try to make a case for his career going on if only he had more HS recruits. Can't he see that?
