Beaty has dredged it up from the depths.

This obviously is a blatant desperation move by the man everyone only knows as "The Genius".

It looks like Beaty is picking up some good JC players. I hope he can land that JC QB Lindsey Scott because he fits the mold of what Meacham likes to do on offense. Beaty is not going to fix our OL by next season so he needs a QB that is more mobile than Bender and Stanley.

Before we start comparing this to the #dreamteam.

A small number of those #dreamteam guys actually got to step D and only a few made it all the way to step E. Several never even got to steps B or C.

I watched Army yesterday and wonder what we could have done with Cozart in an option offense. Not sure I agree with fitting players in already established offense and not the other way around.

Build a defense, and run the triple option. Army shows how it can be done, and that you can beat better teams by effectively running it, as very few do it, and many more athletic teams just assume that they can outmuscle it, but are shocked to be on the short end of the scoreboard.

Unfortunately, we are locked into the Error Raid for at least five games next year, then we can possibly find some legit coaches who actually know how to coach, and will build their team to their strengths and not just throw 85 frat boys out and say "we're gonna sling it all over the field!".

Army is different. Their players have to get up at 6 in the morning and do "cadet" stuff. Other FB team's players don't get in till 6 a.m. Army's coaching staff can just coach FB. They don't have to handle other crap that the players do or don't do.

How many teams would Army beat on our schedule this year?

dgpess21 sounds like didn't hear, but a bunch of 4th qtr comebacks this year for Army in close to 50% of their wins. Senior driven team this year. Makes a difference when talented players reach their final year on the field. Not when The Waterboy types are seniors however.

Thanks. Didn't watch Army play at all this year.

On paper, they have lots of close wins to mediocre teams and losses to teams like Tulane and North Texas.

Was curious if they'd compete/win against the well-coached teams of the Big 12 or even a team like Ohio/CMU.

Personally I don't think we would have beaten Tulane or N Texas this year, and we got manhandled and [censored] slapped by Ohio and CMU

A better question is how many wins does ku have playing the schedule that army did and that answer would be 1, as apposed to the 10 plus a bowl win that army had with less talent, more restricted recruiting, lack of red shirts years for players. Any even average coaching staff world have had 4 wins with KUs roster and our schedule this year, but we have nothing close to even an average staff

The sad thing is....talent for talent, I guarantee you that KU had more than Army. Difference being that Army has DISCIPLINE and COACHING. Two things KU does not.

Oh well. I'm sure the hire after the fifth game of next season will just knock our socks off. BTW...NIU plays in a bowl game with a coach who has wanted the KU job the last three times it has been available if you guys want to see what having a coach who actually knows a hole in the ground from his butt hole.

I stand corrected.....unlike at KU (where you are basically retired or go coach a lower level of the sport) Coach Doreen has actually been given a higher profile position at NC State.

Sorry for the confusion.

Speaking of northern Ill/Wiconsin/Minn, who was the last decent player we had outta that area? I believe we had one O lineman around the 2008 to 2012 timeframe that Mangino recruited. Throughout the 90s/00s, we always had at least one starter from up there. Usually an Olineman or Dlineman. We haven't recruited that area in forever. Geez, half of KU from 1984 to about 1994 was from the north side of Chicago. The last two interns I've had at work were from Minneapolis/St Paul so I know the academic part of KU recruits those areas for outta state $$$s. I vacationed in the Apostle Islands in 2014 and met a guy on the ferry w/ a KU Footbal t-shirt on. He was a HS coach from down around Madison. WTH is wrong w/ the athletic recruiting up there?

If that's the talent you want to see from David Beaty, you have issues.

Beaty was hired because he could recruit TEXAS. Not Wisconsin. Now he does seem a tad bit directionally challenged since he isn't really focusing on Texas. But since Zenger doesn't care, why should we?

I still think there should be a lot more focus on Kansas kids, and not just preferred walkons. I personally think every class should have a minimum of 8 Kansas/Kansas City area kids on the roster.
