Beaty made progress on rushing defense, FG accuracy and punt returns and kick off returns. He is statistically worse for 2017 in all other areas so far. The stats are from ESPN. Beaty should give back some of the salary that Zenger doubled from $800K to $1.6 mill because he sure as hell did not "earn it."

Stats......................................2016............2017
Passing Yds Per Attempt.........6.2...............5.9
Rushing Yds Per Attempt........3.5...............3.2
Points Per Game...................20.3.............18.8
Def Passing Yds Per Att..........7.4...............9.1
Def Rushing Yds Per Att.........5.2...............4.2
Def Pts Allowed Per Game....37.3.............42.1
FG Made %...........................68.4.............84.2
Avg Yards Per Punt...............41.2.............39.9
KO Returns...........................18.9.............20.6
Punt Returns.........................-1.4...............2.5

So we're back here...again. I'm guessing attendance is down from last year, too. Here's a thought, instead of the Air Raid, why not get a bunch of big road graders and a couple of good running backs, then you don't have wonder what kind of arm your QB has.

Last week, Meacham was analyzing Stanley's three picks at Texas:

"Later in the first quarter, with KU trailing 21-7, Kansas lined up receivers Steven Sims Jr. and Tyler Patrick on the weak side of the formation. Given the defensive alignment the Longhorns were in, safety Jason Hall should’ve covered Patrick in the slot, as the KU receiver made a turn toward the middle of the field a few yards off the line of scrimmage. Hall didn’t, though, and his mistake landed him directly in Stanley’s passing lane to Sims on the timing throw. It made it easy for Hall to pick off the pass.
“That could happen to Tom Brady, that one,”

And of course the answer is "No", Brady and most QBs would not have thrown the INT, they would have thrown to the guy who was uncovered, not the guy double covered.

We make a mistake, it kills us. They make mistake, it also kills us. That's not an accident, Coach.

Average home attendance for KU football in 2017 was up slightly to 26,641 but Zenger probably should hold off on taking a victory lap. It was only that high because of the KSU game where attendance spiked to 36,223. In 2016 per Keegans article the average attendance was 25,828. Take out that KSU game for this season and the KU average home attendance would drop to 25,044 and continue the downward trend.

From Keegan's article on Dec. 16, 2016, "Attendance at Memorial Stadium for Kansas football games declined for the eight consecutive year since the school set an attendance record in 2008 with an average crowd of 50,907."

"Roughly half as many paid to watch the Jayhawks play this past season, when KU drew 25,828, nearly 20,000 fewer fans than the next closest Big 12 team, TCU, in terms of crowd size. The Horned Frogs averaged nearly 20,000 more fans than did Kansas."

Here is some more information from the same Keegan article.

On the positive side, parking is a snap! smile

Just getting 40k back in Old Memorial on a regular basis would MORE than pay for dumping Zenger and Beaty. An in all honesty, the numbers cited reflect season ticket holders who are not showing up, attendance is at an all time low in my 50 years of following this program. At some point, Girod needs to realize that there is more to having a football program than TV revenue.

We have progressed in that we no longer shake the victors hands in pregame and cheap shot (spearing) the QB with no need for the players to worry about it. You know, do it the right way. Beaty’s way.

One more game to worry about the conditions of Kansas football. Then we can start moving into the light.

Donations for the stadium reno will boom once we rid our program of the the weakest links

The drop off is even more astounding when compared to the steady climbs in attendance under both Mason and Mangino. When a good hire is made and fans see ACTUAL progress and competitiveness, they will attend games in Old Memorial.

The total ineptitude of the KU administration and athletic department has literally reached the stage of complete and utter psycosis. When, for 10 YEARS they continue to let the ship sink into an abyss and casually stand by and watch the passengers drown, as they sip their white wine, tell everyone how great they are and rake in millions of tax payer dollars for being complete imbecilic buffoons.

Goes back to the old addage: "'it;s not what you know, it's who ya blow".

Hundreds of millions of dollars lost merely in ticket revenue and vendor commission since we fired the last real coach we may ever have. Just a complete and utterly mismanaged shitshow.

Zenger always looked baffled when people would ask why tickets were priced so high when attendance was so low. He seemed to not understand that people weren't willing to pay KU Athletics prices for tickets to a bad product.

It will be interesting to see if Long deliver a big name coach that can get asses in the seats.

He has to. If not, we truly are in danger of dropping out of P5 sports. Realignment WILL happen. It's not a matter of if, but WHEN. With the controversy swirling around the basketball program, we truly are vulnerable to being Wichita State. Enough F'ing around. Spend the money and bring in a true splash hire. The fanbase has shown it won't support or be played a fool. It's time to go big or go home and have an awesome men's soccer stadium.

True, but a soccer stadium without nice amenities and bad sightlines. grin

One can also point to removing the track as the turning point for football to spiral downward. One thing I can be sure of, KU really PO'd the football gods for firing the Buddha.
