KU not shaking hands on the coin toss? Not only is KU horrible now we can add classless to our reputation as well. Awesome! What the f@&k are they doing?

Choosing the red uniforms so the players think fans came to root for them. This is a program with nothing to be proud of.

It's official - this KU football program now stinks in every phase of the game - coaching, talent and now humility. These clowns are apparently too wonderful to shake hands (like him or not) even though their highlights amount to winning one FBS game in three years and setting the record for longest major college road losing streak. How sad.

I wonder how Beaty will explain the coin toss during the press conference or as it should be called "THE EXCUSES HOUR WITH DAVID BEATY"

I predict:

"I didn't see the coin toss. I'll let you guys worry about that stuff. I'm more into the actual game itself."

And

"Today was really big. Only forty-one points! So yeah, our defense can compete with the best out there. We will work on our offense. Trust the process."

I can see why you would think about not shaking hands because Mayfield is totally classless. Grabbing his crotch and yelling f**k u to the KU sideline? But seriously, you don't not shake hands even if he is an ass. Did he say something about us before the game? To the press leading up to the game? Still you shake hands. You beat his ass on the field not act classless.

I doubt anybody is going to fire Beatty before next year. If it is more of the same probably so. I agree with you but we can't keep firing coaches every two years. My preference is to throw Lew Perkins into Potter's Lake. He ran Mangino out of town. He wanted to fire him before the 12-1 season but couldn't. He opens an investigation that tarnishes Reesing's senior year and we go 5-7. He has Harbaugh hired but refuses to let him do his present teams' bowl game. After that we have Fulmer interested and also the guy who was at Tech for a while and we brush them off. This is beyond pathetic. It is embarrassing. What I did like about Mangino is he competed. It sparked interest. If we got beat 70-0 he got on the radio and said we were lousy but we are going to fix it. People were willing to come watch a team that could win on any given Saturday. We don't compete. We are terrible. We are embarrassing.

Does anybody know why we didn't shake hands? I could maybe, just maybe live with it if Mayfield made some derogatory remarks about KU coming in but I can find nothing. If that is not the case it was stupid to poke the bear. Probably was anyway. Even if it was justified you shouldn't do it. The next question is whether the NCAA or the league will do anything to Mayfield for his obscene gestures to the KU sideline. The stupid commentators said well as long as he isn't getting the team penalized? REALLY??? That's beyond unsportsmanlike. He should have been ejected. But NO, he is still a Heisman candidate so we will sweep it under the rug.

Completely. It would be bush league if KU were 9-1 and it's even more pathetic at 1-9.

Mayfield has a reputation and he may have said something provocative during last year's game. Who knows. There's still no excuse for starting the game with essentially a middle finger to your opponent.

Mayfield apologized after the game for his actions, to fans on both sides and to Kansas athletics.

Beaty mumbled something about KU having to be classier.

I asked my son who coaches at Free State. He says the Dineen kid is pretty reserved and not really outspoken so if he wouldn't shake something is going on. He has not been able to find out either. Inquiring minds want to know.

Still there is no excuse for grabbing your crotch and yelling FU at the KU sideline. Especially, on national TV. The sad part is it will be irrelevant come Heisman time.

Mayfield's already agreed with that and apologized.

He's taken far more ownership of his poor choices than anyone on the KU side did today.

Weak explanations from Dineen and Beaty here: http://www.espn.com/college-football/sto...-kansas-players

Dineen acknowledged afterward that refusing to shake Mayfield's hand looked bad but said the Jayhawks didn't intend to be disrespectful.

"It wasn't an attack on him personally at all," Dineen said. "I respect him. He's obviously a great player. It was more for us personally to kind of put our foot down and kind of get a little bit fired up before the game and let them know that we're here and we're not going to just back down because you're Oklahoma."

Jayhawks coach David Beaty said he understood the message his players were trying to send by refusing to shake hands, but added, "I've got to do a better job as their coach, maybe teaching them how to manage that a little bit better. ... But I certainly don't think it was anything more than the fact that this is a football game. It's a football game, and we're going to defend our grass. From that standpoint, I think it helped us. We were ready to go."

Quite different than coach Self's reaction to a similar situation. Coach Beaty has NO clue to what he is doing.

The whole thing was just another instance of a lack of discipline. Players should know that this is not what the staff expects of them, but they do it anyway. We’re in year-3 week-11 and the staff has to tell the kids this is how we do things.

Forget blocking and tackling, let’s work on that pre-game.

We have a real humdinger of a football program. Beaty is building up the discipline the right way. Trust the process, "man."

My favorite part was there were two small children in KU gear standing right there to watch their beloved Jayhawks act like jerks.

Yeah, Dineen, the video looks bad.

Yeah, the kids helped make it a magic moment. And Dineen's nervous shuffling from side to side while looking down.

With one last game of the Beaty era, he should meet pregame prior to coin toss and shake a real head coach’s hand. Then turn to the captains and make sure they do the same.

Embarrassing displays today for the university.

He'd have to watch tape all week to see what a handshake is first.

Is it the players passive-aggressive way to send Beaty out the door? Certainly the players CANNOT be that Fing Stoopid to just randomly pull a bone-headed stunt like that. I initially thought Mayfield must have said somethjing and started talking Sh$$t. After looking into some things, it seems that was NOT ther case. My next thoughts went to they did it on purpose to get rid of David "Dead Man Walkin" Beaty
