While I appreciate the pragmatism and potential efficiency of resource use in this possible solution, I don't really think it ends without a civil war of some sort. I see that as being a bad thing for the economy and dragging the rest of us down with them seems like a bad thing.

What we witnessed in Charlottesville was the intent to polarize America. The tribal left vs. the tribal right.

The far right and the far left represent a miniscule % of the population. Yet the media is trying their damndest to make it seem like they are America. They are not America. Not even close.

The Nazis were a small faction of the German population and yet they took power. Slave owners were a small part of the population of the South and yet they convinced the whole South to fight a war for slavery. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat. Did you ever think you would see Nazis marching openly with flags and swastikas and guns down the streets of a major US city in your lifetime? I didn't, still hard to believe. I am old enough to have been in Chicago during the race riots of the 60's and can still remember the terror as my grandfather ( City of Chicago police) called us to tell us where the worst violence was occurring and assured us if things got worse he would call and give us directions on what streets to take so that we could get a safe exit out of the City. We didn't have cell phones and the TV stations didn't have helicopters so information came to us when he could stop at a pay phone and call. The signs of big trouble are here, we ignore at our own peril. Fear sells so we see a lot of violence in the media, I get that. But this is different, this is palpable.

Care to elaborate on this?

Don't hint around. What state are you talking about?

Who exactly are these "fruits" you refer to?

Spell it out please for those of us who don't talk in right-wing code and can't hear dog whistles .

california.

A study came out recently stating that california has more fringe groups operating within their borders than any other state in the union.

Makes sense, since it is the largest state in the union. Duh.

You didn't answer the other question--who exactly are these "fruits" you refer to?

PARK< Read your history. NOBODY in the South with the exception of about 2% of the land owners gave a crap about slavery. Lincoln leaned towards war and 600,000 was the cost in AMERICAN lives. In was a WAR between cultures a war between the STATES, NOT a CIVIL war. A Civil was is when a group tries to OVERTHROW their current form of Government. The SOUTH wasn't trying to overthrow the Government, they were trying to start their own.
Slavery was on the way out as many Nations abolished the practice and with the invention of the cotton gin the numbers were going down fast. By 1900 experts claim it would of NO longer existed. The war was part of Lincoln's plan to open up western territories and many more issues within the movement of the country. VERY few Confederates fought because they wanted to have slaves. When one Union soldier asked a Confederate soldier why he was still fighting when the outcome became clear, the Southern soldier said "because you are down here!" READ YOUR HISTORY. IB

Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery-- the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun. These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization. Mississippi Declaration of Causes of Secession

We hold as undeniable truths that the governments of the various States, and of the confederacy itself, were established exclusively by the white race, for themselves and their posterity; that the African race had no agency in their establishment; that they were rightfully held and regarded as an inferior and dependent race, and in that condition only could their existence in this country be rendered beneficial or tolerable.

That in this free government *all white men are and of right ought to be entitled to equal civil and political rights* [emphasis in the original]; that the servitude of the African race, as existing in these States, is mutually beneficial to both bond and free, and is abundantly authorized and justified by the experience of mankind, and the revealed will of the Almighty Creator, as recognized by all Christian nations; while the destruction of the existing relations between the two races, as advocated by our sectional enemies, would bring inevitable calamities upon both and desolation upon the fifteen slave-holding states.

IB was home schooled, that means he sat at home and read conspiracy theory websites on the internet. He may have been dropped on his head as a child as well.
