Defense gives up 27 points per game.
Offense scores 44 points per game.

Dam I'd like to get one over on these guys and stick a fork in Coach Bro. Same crew as usual. Good offense. No defense. Probably not as good as WVU. Probably would've beaten Ohio/CMU by two scores. 11am start in front of 20000 IronArses. Week off to get everyone healthy and to work on technique in the defensive backfield. Honestly, as good a chance as we'll have all year to notch another W.

I feel that if we kept opponents to 27, we could win games. But we don't.

My biggest disappointment with this defense is that they just look poorly coached. Numerous mental errors. I don't think I see a disparity in the talent level so far. Poor fundamentals and not understanding assignments. Hard to blame the d-line when it's usually 3 against 5 blockers, but when you drop 8 in coverage and still can't cover anyone it's frustrating.

I haven't been to practices so I don't know what it is. Are they being too nice - too positive?

My guess would be too positive.

D's need someone to light a fire under their asses from time to time IMHO and being all positive all the time ain't gonna do that.

This staff is very positive reinforcement from the word of a coaching friend of mine with relationships with staff/former staff.

That's pretty much what I've heard too, but it's been a while since anyone I know has brought that up.

I think it may have changed a bit with the addition of Mecham as I don't think that's his nature to be about only positive reinforcement all the time. I've seen him chew out Bender and a few others on the sideline more than a few times now. He's not being destructive about it, but rather getting on them for their mental mistakes it seems to me.

99% sure I heard him once yell at Bender on the sideline after a bad play resulting in a punting situation, "WTF!?!? WTF were you doing?!?" after Bender made a boneheaded play. After listening to some of his post game, it sounds like he's getting on them like that when they do something in the game that they never do in practice and they know they're not supposed to do because they actually talk about it in practice. Yet, they still end up doing it in the game.

I think that kind of "negative" reinforcement is helpful and not the mind game type destructive crap some coaches pull which I think is not only not helpful, but harmful to the team. It usually gets the players attention real quick and gets them focused on what they know they're supposed to do which usually translates to them playing better and not making as many mistakes from my experience.

On the uptake of what? Your inability to articulate even the most basic things you are trying to express?

Sorry, Mr. Truckstop, but I'm not going to pretend to read your wind-blown, fried-from-sitting-on-the-tractor-all-day mind. If you have something to say, pretend you actually received an education that taught you how to express yourself and put it into words instead of the grunting noises and vague references to nothing that apparently passes for communication in the sub-100,000 population cesspool that you call home.

On the uptake of what?
Exactly.

It's all gone right over your giant bulbous over confident head.

Ah yes, that thing that you can't describe is right over my head.

The reality is that I called you out on having actually communicated nothing of substance and now you are forced to double-down on it by pretending that you actually did say something but now your argument is that only people with vastly superior intelligence (only people with telepathic abilities through the internet) could grasp the nonexistent message that you presented in your post.

The simple fact is I asked you to explain how you would intend to demonstrate a negative. But, due to your complete lack of understanding of what "negative" means (and, more specifically, "negative reinforcement") you believe that telling me that arriving in person somehow is prima facie explanation that needs no further elucidation. The problem with this entire line of ruralite logic is that "negative reinforcement" doesn't mean what you think it means and you are exposing your complete lack of real education and pretending the substitute of farm lingo is somehow equivalent.

Stay in school kids.
