Tonight on NFL pregame they showed nationwide the play where all our OL chop blocked all the Ohio DL on a pass play as they all jumped over the blocks and sacked Bender.

I hope all the OL and their line coach saw how famous they have become for such a stupid call.

Bender made that call.

Play looked terrible and it was, but 80% of the fault for that play failing was Bender's fault. Yes, most of the chop blocks were poor, but the WR was wide open before the DL got to Bender. Bender curled up and ate it instead of getting the ball to the WR and possibly taking a hit.

Question. Why would he call chop blocks?

It's supposed to be a shorter quick pass over the middle so you call chop blocks to get all the DL to get their hands down dealing with the chop blocks.

Make a few poor chop blocks and a QB who panics instead of getting the ball out to the open WR a little quicker than he anticipated and you get the play we all saw.

If it went as planned, we'd be getting positive national attention for it instead.

I thought chop blocks are illegal.

You're right. It's a cut block. Chop block is when you cut block someone already being traditionally blocked.

My bad for mixing them up.

Back in my day the chop block was legal. If you used a cut block and they jumped over you, you then gave them a leg whip to bring them down.

Let's face it, good or bad, the game is not the same.

Had a high school coach who would not let you have any water during practice. You could never take your helmet off. If you lost on Friday you had full pad practice Sat. morning. It was supposed to make you tough. What Bullshit!

By the way Kman, we had double bars. LOL.

Same here, my HS football coach wouldn't let us have water during practice until someone at a different HS in our district got heat stroke and the district made it required to have at least 1 water break per practice. So, for my Senior year we had that going for us, but our coach gave us 1 minute for the break which meant you got a couple gulps down from a drinking fountain by the gym entrance if you were lucky before we'd have to run sprints for taking more than 1 minute. No practices on Saturday after a loss for us though thankfully.
