Paul Pierce in my opinion was the best KU product in the NBA since Wilt. Manning was good and solid, but really never did reach his potential because of injury.

Modern day NBA, Pierce was the best that ever donned the KU colors.
1. Wilt
2. Pierce
3. Manning
4. Mokeskie
5. Put a name in here and it will work.

Thoughts on former KU greats in the NBA.........?

Interesting post. I certainly hope you are not putting the rest of KU's former players in the NBA below Mokeskie.

Manning was a great Jayhawk, Was he any better than Clyde Lovellette, Bil Bridges, Dave Robisch or Jo Jo White in the NBA?. Just a few off the top of my head.

I would include Frank Mason in the top 5. Can't keep a national player of the year off the list.

Frank hasn't even played one minute yet in the NBA. The oldies like Clyde were way before my time and have rarely seen footage of him, but he was a great one. My list included Wilt, because he is part of the reason we have some rules in modern day NBA.

Thats my list of NBA/KU alums. We just don't have that many stellar pros. Lafrentz- was he any better than Pollard or Jojo, or Robisch? You can do that each player that pretty much ever played here, except Danny, Paul and Wilt.

You didn't reference the NBA only in your original post so if we are talking about KU greats then yes Frank should be included. As far as Mokeski I just don't see it. I would take Perry Ellis or LaFrentz over him.

Yes my mistake. I stand corrected. Mokeski averaged 4 points per game for his entire NBA career. Lovellete averaged 17. I know different era but surely there is someone better.

It's hard to judge players on stats only. Jo Jo ran the show and scored well for NBA champ Celtics.

If I remember right Bridges was a 6'6" small forward but still avg. over 11 pts and 11 RB's for his career,

Many of the Hawks that we have named and several that are still playing have been in the NBA 10+ years.

How blessed we have been and will be.

My curiosity got the best of me. Jo Jo won 2 championships with Boston. Was finals MVP. 3 time all league. Avg 17 PPG, 5 RB and almost 5 asst. Only Wilt, the Truth and Clyde scored better than Jo Jo. Only Wilt ever avg. more rebounds than Bridges.

70 Jayhawks have played either in the NBA and ABA.

70 players, that's a lot. Didn't realize it.

70 may have donned a NBA jersey for awhile, but few have had long lasting careers that meant something. Just a few.
