By the numbers: Current Coaches with Natty and Final 4's

1.Coach K- 12 Final 4's, 5 titles
2. Roy Williams- 9 Final 4's, 3 titles
3. Izzo- 7 Final 4's, 1 title
4. Calipari- 6 Final 4's, 1 title ( 3 different teams)
5. Boeheim-5 Final 4's, 1 title

Let me add some numbers to give a little more perspective:

1.Coach K- 43 years, 5 Army, 38 Duke, 23 years straight to NCAA T., 34 total
2. Roy Williams- 30 years, 15 KU, 15 UNC, 8 years straight to NCAA T., 28 total.
3. Izzo- 23 years, all at MSU, 21 years straight to NCAA T., 21 total.
4. Calipari- 26 years, 8 UMass, 9 Memph, 9 UK, 5 years straight to NCAA T., 19 total.
5. Boeheim- 42 years, all at Cuse, 1 year straight to NCAA T., 33 total.
6. Self- 25 years, 4 ORU, 3 Tulsa, 3 Illinois, 20 straight to NCAA T., 20 total.
7. Wright- 24 years, 7 Hostra, 17 Vill., 5 Straight to NCAA T., 15 total.

Note the schools each coached and those who started out at lessor basketball schools and the number of years some spent at the better basketball schools.

You need to correct your Coach K. Duke missed a tournament in the 1990s. Coach K was still with the program but out that season with an injury. No disclaimer he was still considered their head coach....hence no 35 yrs straight...the year was 1995...

However, posters lie when they show limited numbers and put it out there like it is undeniable proof of quality HOF cred.

Thanks for the correction. I've fixed it. I had forgotten about that year for K. When I looked at the record I missed that. I like the fixed record much better. Don't care for K but I have to admit that he's done quite a job of coaching at Duke.

I remember that you've said '86 was your first year. That means you missed suffering through, what I call, the "Up and Down Years" of Harp and Owens. Both were good coaches and had some really good teams. But they also had some big downer years. Their records kind of look like a stock market chart that really went up and down.

Duke people want most to miss that fact...he had back and hip surgery I believe that season. Wojo or Capel might have been the replacement head coach but you better believe K was still running things..actually Pete Gaudet took over...their record was 13-18 for the season...lol...KU early preseason #1,,,

"I think Kansas checks all the boxes you want," said CBS Sports analyst Gary Parrish during a Tuesday morning television spot. "They've got a Hall of Fame coach, they've got experienced talent and then they've got super-duper freshmen. ... You've got a team that is deep, talented, experienced and I think should be the favorite to win the national championship. When you've got experience mixed with five-star talent, that's when you can be special."

Kansas early preseason #1 pick by a majority of media types.

Phoggy mentioned somewhere going 40-0 next year. Is is possible? I think very much. But don't ever count your chickens before they hatch. Part of the equation is how quickly our Hawks gel. There's some decent teams in our pre-conference season: Michigan State Nov. 6, Stanford Dec. 1, Villanova Dec. 15, AZ State Dec. 22, and the NIT Tip Off in Nov. with Louisville, Marquette and Tennessee.

Think how great 40-0 would be! First to accomplish a men's Div. I 40-0 season record, # 15 conference season championship in a row, conference tourney championship, regional NCAA championship, national championship. That's a lot to accomplish in one season, 40-0 would do it! Let's do it!
