You are right 1952. Self does as good a job with his athletes as anybody. Being down here in OKLA I see athlete trouble all the time, especially at OU. But OSU also has theirs.

Because of the KC Star, our issues last year were made out to be more than what they were. Magnified by 10. I have just watched 5 or 6 players leave Nebraska this offseason. Thats cause for concern. I don't see our issues being close to that or even close to scarying off incoming recruits.

Spurs thing is not out of the question. Its on the horizon. The offer will be made. Whether or not Self would take it is another. His best friend and former roommate is the GM. ITs not out of the question. In someways, the transfers coming in makes you wonder about SElf and his tenure. I think its all going to be for not. Self is a college coach. The only area that I would say could cause him to leave is the politics in the college game. We all know that college recruiting is based on who can skirt that grey area without getting caught the longest. Maybe Self is tired of that grey area getting smaller for the ones who abide, and getting larger for those who don't.

What you say certainly has a ring of truth to it, yet, probably most of our conjecturing has some ring of truth to it. But I'm afraid that all of our conjecturing is for naught as only time will reveal what is reality. But we enjoy doing it. I seriously doubt that Self will leave coaching in the college ranks until he retires, which I feel might be sooner than most of us would like. He certainly makes enough that financial security should not be a concern. However, he is only number five among college coaches in annual income. Here are the top six: Coach K, $7,299,666; Calipari, $6,880,000; Pitino, $5,093,000; Miller, $4,950,000; Self, $4,940,000 and Izzo, $3,745,769. These figures will vary according to how they are calculated. I could handle retirement with just one year of any of these annual incomes.

I am surprised to see Colbey go. I thought that next season might be bring more playing time for him. But I suspect that Self was straight with him about his possible minutes for the upcoming season. Apparently they would be less than what I was thinking. I have to believe that Self knows his players and their potential much better than I or any of us do. Anyone who thinks Self doesn’t want to win doesn’t know Self. Self has a lot more on the line than I do so I trust him to do what he thinks is best. Self’s winning percentage of .829 (the best of all coaches the past 14 years) at KU is no accident.

I just read something quite interesting today. Recently got the book, Kansas Jayawks: A Year To Remember, Inside the Greatest Season in KU Basketball History. On page 172 I read, We've also got a few other buddies named Wildcat (Tony Fankhauser) and Jim West. One's a Kansas State fan and one is a Missouri fan. They pretty much hate KU.

I have no idea if this Jim West is the same one that posts on our KU board, don't even know if that's his real name. If it is him, that gives us a better understanding as to why he says some of the things that he does.

Narrow mindedness does not ask questions. So what do you know about him?

The Jim West I'm referring to apparently went to a sports bar in Overland Park and was part of a group with some KU fans as well as the K-Stater during 2008 but would leave when the KU game came on. I figured it was a different person, but you never know. It's a small world we live in.

For those scared of Self's transfer route for the next two years, read https://www.si.com/college-basketball/2017/05/22/kansas-jayhawks-transfers-bill-self
Maybe it will put your mind to some degree of ease. Self is no dummy and is quite adaptable.

Yeah, we've seen him "adapt" over and over again on his way to losing in the Elite 8.
