Translation TCU wins the NIT championship in MSG yesterday. Yes it is over now.

So they have established that they are the 69th best team in the country?

TCU played KU tough in Fort Worth, TX. Representing the conference well. Good thing Missouri left since they cannot even win an NIT.

K-State should up their game in the NIT the next time they are in it.

The 68 teams invited to the Big Dance weren't the best 68 in the country. Several probably didn't desire to be there but won their conf. tourney and were automatically invited. Some of the others chosen were probably not as good as some left out. TCU was probably better than 69th in the country, but may have been worse. Who knows? None of us. smile

Clearly TCU could have beaten many of the 68 teams that made the tournament field. With teams like Iona (22-12), Jacksonville St.(20-14), Kent St. (22-13), Mt. St. Mary's (19-15) and South Dakota St. (18-16) getting automatic bids from weaker conferences, TCU illustrates the depth of strength in the Big 12.

Many do not appreciate or understand the strength of depth in the Big 12. We are strong from top to bottom, even the bottom feeders. Example: OU going into WVU and beating them. There was a lot of beating up on each other. KU was fortunate to have only two loses. I don't like all of the invites to the Big Dance, but guess it is better than when only one team from a conference could make it. That kept KU out a few times when they were well deserving to be in it. I think we put to much emphasis on a minefield of a one and out tournament rather than looking at the long haul of a full season and its results. You can recover from meeting a team during the season that was really hot for one game or you were really cold, but not so during a tourney. The NBA comes closer to crowning a champion at the end of the season than does the NCAA. Making the playoffs is based totally on the full season results and during the playoffs one loss doesn't mean the end of it all. In fact even three losses don't necessarily mean the end. But multi-game playoffs are probably not practical for the NCAA.
