Look jacka$$, the irony I see here is KSU drags their feet in releasing players. KU did it right. Twins have money to burn on hiring the same lawyer, but it DOESNT mean it was because KU wanted to keep the players. One of them avg'd 1-2 pts per game. Players don't like coach, players transfer. EOS

Oh, timmy. Don't believe everything you read.

Rustin Dodd, a real life journalist for the KC Star (not a blogger wanting hits), followed up with Don Jackson.

Don Jackson did represent the Gonzalez twins, but it was after they were given their release from KU. His dealings were on amateurism issues

Rustin Dodd ‏@rustindodd 16h
Donald Jackson, the lawyer mentioned here, told me this was the "most irresponsible piece of journalism he's seen." http://rockchalkblog.com/2014/05/29/gonz...ship-at-kansas/

The irony is that the jacka$$ who found the story somehow can't find the follow up comments. Ironic or jealous?

As they say, "misery loves company."

Timmy just wanted to drag KU down to KSU's level to feel better about himself and act as though it somehow made KSU's treatment of Leticia Romero more acceptable.

Unfortunately for timmy, the claims were unfounded--as is much of the information posted on that particular blog.

actually, here's what espn's mechelle voepel had to say:

The situations are not the same, in that the coach the twins came to play for is still there, while Leti's coach was fired.

That said, I don't think *anyone* should have to get legal representation to leave a school. If Leti's case has opened up this topic even more, that is for the best.

Maybe we will have to create a full-time beat to cover transfer disputes.

Rustin Dodd knows. LOL at a silly blog that nobody has even heard of. Funny that even the lawyer that they hired discredits that blog to Rustin.

Also...the twin weren't playing much here and are happy to move on because their true future is in fashion or something like that. One of them (Dylan) only even played in 9 games...she had 23 where she didn't even see the court. Anyone that believes that KU seriously was going to try to keep them and make them stay is fooling themselves. As with most any minor/non contributors KU would rather have the scholarships back.

The situation with Romero was a lot different. She was a very good player (led their whole team in basically every statistical category) and KSU didn't want her to leave so they tried to bully her into staying (even though they fired her coach) and she wasn't havin' it.

Honestly, Timmy and even John Currie should agree that what went down there wasn't a smart move by Currie at all. He made a rash decision without getting all of the facts and it backfired pretty bad in the court of public opinion. I mean she gave them a list of about 100 schools and somehow he made it sound like she was being tampered with. Come on...all 100 schools were tampering? Just the notion of that makes him look foolish. Then they tried to act like the committee reviewed it and couldn't look at it again? WHY? WHY COULDN'T THEY IF THEY HAD THE FACTS NOW? There is no reason and the national media wasn't going to let it die. Jay Bilas, Vitale, ESPN, FoxNews...everyone was all over them.

Even if there was tampering in that situation then only release her to 10 of the 100 or 15 or whatever the number is you don't think tampered.

Currie thought he could get her to stay quietly and she didn't let it happen because she truly didn't want to be there.

Imagine Timmy reaching on something... so hard to imagine! Funny that you try to compare the 2 situations:

1) a report by an unknown blog that gets discredited immediately and not reported by anyone else.
2) A true news story that gets reported by everyone including ESPN, Foxsports, CBSSports, Yahoo, and real newspapers like the LATimes and the KC Star.

That is what is wrong with the US. All of the Blogs and Twitter can just say whatever they want and there is always someone out there that wants to believe it so they do regardless of how ridiculous it actually is.

KU didn't prevent a transfer or require legal help to allow one.

This is a non-story if Rock Chalk Blog doesn't blow [censored] out of proportion with no facts to base it on.

A few thoughts:

I don't trust any lawyer who is trying to publicly denounce a blog that could be potentially incriminating. Obviously, if the article had truth he would be quick to want it gone/discredited. The fact that Jackson went after it so quickly almost makes me think there could be some substance to it (although the Rock Chalk Blog guy, Joe Davis, is not exactly a reputable source of KU info).

The twins made a point to say that they would miss everyone at KU except the women's coaching staff, strongly suggesting that the relationship was broken and a transfer isn't all that surprising.

If you have seen these girls on social media, it's easy to see that they would be a lot to handle. My best guess is that Bonnie didn't like these girls and didn't want them on the team...but Bonnie didn't want to see 2 more transfers from KU added to her resume. This is probably why they tried to make it so quiet.

On social media, it is easy to see that they tend to make a very big deal about almost everything. I think they probably threw a fit about wanting to leave, made some ambiguously illegal transgression on social media and brought in Jackson as sort of an F U to Bonnie & staff because that's just who those girls are--entitled.

Regardless, it is in no way what happened in the Romero situation.

True. Everyone knows that unless you are Timmy...and want to act like they are similar regardless of the fact that nobody but one Blog has reported it. And regardless of the fact that the blog has a history of being relatively unprofessional and basically being fired from several real reporting jobs previously.

Carry on.

Isn't that the same school that Pullen went to?

Or did he buy those with the Jamar Samuels money?
