I didnt say it would'nt be nicer or a better location downtown. But they decided on refiting the old stadiums instead of building something downtown. Its a non issue in other words. Yes downtown KC would be a better backdrop than the side of a hill and I-70..

On a side note.....Justin Smackwell just hit another HR. Ball was absolutely smoked. That's 3 HRs in 13 ABs as a Royal.

HOW ABOUT THAT RALLY?
Santana had an awful outing tonight, but the offense came through. Hosmer with the big, go-ahead 2 RBI hit. 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Wow. This team is playing great baseball right now.
Close out this game and, with Shields on the mound Sunday against Lackey, you have to think the Royals have a great chance to take 3 of 4 from possibly the best team in the American League.
Maybe Justin Maxwell was just mired in severe depression after being stuck in Houston. He has been valuable so far for the Royals.
As was said on the broadcast, we've all wondered what this team would be if the offense would start clicking. We're seeing it.

Royals win!
60-53.
Looks like they'll still be 4.5 out in the wild card race, as Texas looks primed to win (and probably do so all weekend v. Houston). Cleveland lost though.

Still think the playoffs are a longshot, but this is a lot of fun anyway. Hard to believe this group went 4-19 this season. Well, maybe not. Huge addition by subtraction in jettisoning Francouer and Getz.

I don't want to torture myself or others, but what is the state of baseball in KC if they go 10-13 instead of 4-19?
Playoffs are a big time long shot, but I have become more optimistic than I was two weeks ago, when I was ridiculing those hoping for Dayton Moore to buy because of a small playoff chance.

Francoeur was downright terrible. Maxwell is a better option, even when he comes down from this first week high. Tejada is somehow playing pretty well and certainly is an upgrade from Getz. I'd like to see this lineup
LF Gordon 1B Hosmer DH Butler 3B Moustakas C Perez RF Maxwell CF Cain 2B Tejada SS Escobar
provided that Moose keeps hitting.

Also--I'd be curious to know ESPN and BBP's respective methodologies for determining playoff odds. ESPN has the Royals at a 20.4% chance of making the playoffs (7th in the AL, now ahead of the Indians). BBP, typically much more conservative in these projections, has the Royals at 5.2% (far behind the Indians, who are at about 30%, though they haven't updated for tonight's games yet).
