i've got dish network and love it. it has only gone out a couple of times when it is real windy. since i live in a tornado area that is probably not the greatest thing. but i don't care. i'm willing to risk my and my family's life for the wonder that is satellite tv.

What is the internet speed for DirectTV, etc? I'd probably switch but I rely heavily on the 'net for work and can't stand slow service.

I had Dish for 9 years and really never had outage problems.
Might lose signal for a couple minutes if rain is between me & satellite, but that's it.
You can connect an outdoor antenna to the Direct TV receiver, and get your locals in HD rain or shine. This served as a suitable backup for outages.
Cable now, switching to DirecTV soon.
