It is pretty amazing what stats this guy puts up. Outside of baseball nuts, I don't think many people realize how freaking good he is. I was at Kaufman when the Angels played there a couple of months ago, and Trout got thrown out at first a couple of times, and I told my uninterested wife that I have never seen a faster guy to first in my life.
Anyways tons of good info in this article.

Does this description of Trout as a high schooler make anyone else a little grumpy?

Quote:
"It seems crazy for everybody [to miss]," Bane said. "Mike didn't just wake up with those tools. As a group we just didn't do a great job of seeing him, really seeing him. Mike would hit, but New Jersey pitchers might throw 65 [mph], so you had to wonder. It was hard to see him play, he maybe played 15 games in his senior year; they'd get snowed out, and if a game got snowed out in April you might not get it back. Pitchers would pitch around him so you wouldn't get many chances to get a good look. You really had to have him on your radar to get the right read. You had to give Mike at least three days, two games with a practice. Very few teams got that."

What are you talking about?

Trying to figure it out, but honestly, am not sure.

A toolsy kid that was tough to evaluate because he played low-profile, low-talent high school ball in bad weather...became a once-in-a-generation talent at 21.

We thought we had one of those. His name was Bubba Starling.

Like Rany said yesterday, Starling is starting to get interesting again but don't get your hopes up on another Mike Trout because very few players are Mike Trout.

If he's half as good as Trout, he's an All Star.

Last night on the MLB network they were talking about the Royals and were discussing the Myers trade. One of the guys justified the move by saying that the Royals had another Myers type player in Starling waiting to "burst into the Majors" at some point. Made me chuckle a little. That guy probably has no clue who Bubba is other than that he was a high draft pick.

HA. I heard that too. It was Harold Reynolds.

I had to laugh a little bit too when I heard him say it.
