Age is undefeated. You want to bet on that lineup aging well?

True enough. I don't want to bet on it aging well, but I would like to bet on it still being pretty damn good in 2014. And I wasn't just talking about the lineup. Sure, Verlander seems to have regressed a bit from his previous two years. But he is still damn good. And I wouldn't count on him regressing any further next year. He may look more like 2012. He's locked up. So is Scherzer. So is Sanchez. So is Fister (for what that's worth).

As far as age goes, Torii Hunter probably has father time knocking on his door. Victor Martinez as well. But Prince Fielder won't even be 30 on opening day next year. Austin Jackson is far from it. And while it's pretty likely that Cabrera won't be chasing a 2nd or 3rd triple crown in three years (you know, because that's absolutely unheard of), I seriously doubt that he's going to be anything less than great. The Tigers are also going to add a closer before the deadline, in all likelihood, which makes them an even more complete team.

We're talking about 2014. Not 2018.

I think the Tigers are the team to beat in the division until proven otherwise, but Cabrera and Fielder are exactly the type of players that fall off a cliff.

Just depends on when you believe that will happen.

Yeah, because there arent going to be many cliffs that can support that weight. Prince will be 500 lbs one day.

Yeah but Cabrera is exactly like nobody. A regression for him would be hitting .310 30 HRs and 110 RBIs.
