HUGE series. 13 games until the All-Star break, 6 with the Indians, 4 with the Yanks, 3 with the A's. Putting up a good record in this stretch could mean a lot heading into the All-Star Break.

Biggest series of the year so far. Would be able to gain some ground and get momentum up to the All-Star Break. Helps Shields is pitching the finale on Thursday and then against the Yankees in NY.

Tough stretch. All 13 games against teams with a winning record.

For obvious reasons, the 6 games against Cleveland are bigger.

But if the Royals could manage 8-5, that would be massive heading into the second half of the season at .500

Tribe back atop the standings surprisingly enough.
Here's to hoping they can take the first two & get lucky the last one against Shields.

Oh I'm sorry - I must have been mistaken since this board usually shuts down by mid May

Damn this team is frustrating.

Tough loss tonight. They gotta stop losing the 1st game of the series.

Need to take the next two.....very important.

Can't walk 8 batters.
The first inning was killer. They scored 2 runs on 2 hits.

I still cannot stand Chris Perez. What an absolute piece of trash.

Perez is trash.

Collins and Crow have just been terrible lately.

All Escobar had to do was hit the ball to move a runner, and he couldn't do it. Watch the 1st strike go by. Watch the 2nd go by. and swiff at the third.
His hitting has really went down hill last year.

Tough break with Lough drilling it right at the second basement in the 8th and still almost beating out the double play.

That's twice since Ned put Escobar back into the #2 spot that he has failed in a late inning situation with runners on.

Just terrible.

Lots of chances last night...that's a game they simply cannot lose.

It still comes down to the fool known as Ned not knowing when to pull pitchers. Sure Mendoza settled down after the first inning. But why the hell did he pull Hocheaver. The double Cs have been struggling of late. Is it time to give Hoche a chance at starting again????

No no no no on Hoch starting again.

Him in the bullpen is working. No reason to mess with that.

Ok ...how about him getting more than 2 innings then...Really at sometime this year I knew either Guthrie, Davis, or Mendoza would start struggling. So you are saying Hochevar wouldnt be a better starting option than one of those 3 right now.

I agree with you he should have gone longer last night.

Don't get me sucked in by the #'s he has put up in the bullpen.

Working out of the bullpen after being a starter is an easy transition, and fools people into believing you can be a starter again.

You want the perfect example....you named him in your post.

Wade Davis

He couldn't make it as a stater...the Rays moved him to the bullpen....his velocity increased, his #'s were off the charts.

The Royals traded for him...said, hey, he can be a starter in this league, look at what he did out of the pen last season.

And you've seen the results so far...he's easily been the worst starter the Royals have currently.

He's the only guy I'd consider moving out of the bullpen for now, but not for Hoch.

Guthrie has been up and down...he's giving up way too many HR's and not striking enough guys out. I think he'll be ok. He is what he always has been....a decent #4 starter.

And Mendoza is just fine with me. If you ask anybody if their #5 starter is going to have a 4.41 ERA, they'll say yes please, I'll take it and move on.
