Why in the world does Ned always feel the need to screw around with Gordon?

It's been proven year after year after year he's most effective when he's leading off.

Sooooooooooooo stupid.

You're right, Chris. But only when other players are hitting. Gordon can be great leading off, but if no one behind him is hitting, what good is it? I would love for Gordon to comtinue to lead off, but only when Butler starts getting some pitches to hit and a viable 4 hitter emerges.

You don't fix a wrong with another wrong....that's why you don't move him out of the leadoff spot.

I know the offense is struggling, I realize that. But switching around the lineup doesn't work. It hasn't worked the 10000000 times he's done it in the past either.

I hear you and for the most part I agree. But the offense has been bad this. Just plain bad. Something has to change. Personally, I think Dyson for Frenchy and Tejada for Getz would help, albeit marginally.

Ideally, with everyone hitting decently or better, I'd like:

Gordon LF
Cain CF
Butler DH
Hosmer 1B
Moustakas 3B
Perez C
Escobar SS
Dyson RF
Tejada 2B

What I see as Gordan being a lead off man is that if anyone at the bottom of the order can get on, then Gordan could hit a home run or drive in runs. That Grand Slam of his is good evidence for run production.

Frenchy may have a good arm, but he's actually a terrible RF with little to no range.

I wonder why our super manager never thought about platooning.

If the players at the bottom of the order get on, Gordon can knock them in? That's crazy, man. I don't think it works like that.

The point is to get better hitters in front of him who hit for average and run the bases well (or just fast). That's a pretty simple baseball principle.

The complication is Gordon ALWAYS doing better in the lead-off spot. I would love if Gordon starts spraying the ball around the park tonight hitting 3rd and changes that trend.

Lineup change let Gordo drive some in.

Good win. Needed it.

Even with Det-riot in the loss column. CLE-DET series this weekend. Can't remember the last time I was interested in one of those.

Gordon is on pace for 100+ RBIs and 20+ HRs. That stat line does not lead off, especially when the team is struggling to score.

Ned stated on 810 this morning that Gordan has told Ned that he prefers the #3 spot. Easy move to make is to hit Alex in the order that makes him most comfortable.

Aw yes, gotta love the 1 game sample size to show that I'm wrong.

I still don't like having Escobar leadoff and Gordon hit 3rd, but we'll see how it plays out.

I hope it works.
