Since the KU band was a hot topic at times this season, and marching bands have been receiving rather lengthy coverage during the bowls, who have people seen that were actually BETTER than (not just bigger than) KU?

that OSU band in Memorial this year made KU look like West Junior High School's band.

on a side note, i found it pretty interesting that KU played quite a bit of Jesus Juice Jackson this year.

FOX has done a great job showing the band during their halftime show. Ya, I've found a lot of bands better than KU's. USC, MICH, LSU, UND, OU to name a few. They are big, but big is loud and people like loud. I remember USC during the Rose Bowl did some Black Eyed Peas, very nice.

The band that looked like ours was Boise St., very small.

Where do you get that crap? KSU is probably 8th or 9th in the Big 12 in Band let alone 15 in the Nation. Geez. IB

Okie ST. would make alot of college bands look bad. They are very good as their total music program is excellent. Ku needs numbers. IF Manweeno ever starts winning alot, the numbers will grow. IB

In football, bigger is better. KU needs more numbers.

It would be hard to put KSU in the Top 50.

According to "houston pep rally goings-on"? In other words, a homeless guy who just pissed and crapped himself while listening to a tape of the KSU band said - "I give that band a 15th best ranking in the country in terms of the 14 other college bands I have ever heard play".

I believe he had only heard 10 college bands play.

He did say he was a BIG fan of the K-Suck debate team.

I would get over that quick bud, k-state's music program sucks.

What would help is some money for the marching program. I don't know how it is at other schools, but I've heard KU's marching band has to pay for a lot of their own stuff (like even the dry cleaning on their uniforms). KU has a pretty good music program. They just need to get more incentives for people to be in the marching band i.e. consistant team and some perks like going to more away games or something. I don't know if we've taken them anywhere in awhile other than the occasional trip to MU or K-State. Seems like everyone and their brother brings their band to KU.

Whats interesting is that ISU has had a "Little" more success than KU in the W-L columns the las 6-7 years but the ISU bands numbers have remained consistantly 250-300. Our success or lack of it seems to have little effect on our marching band numbers. KU started its slide when Foster left. IB

True. I think the turnover the last 4-5 years has had an effect.
