Elephant in the room, honest question

So I am relatively new here but have been a KU basketball and football fan for many decades.
I am also a very religious man and a pastor at the Westlink Christian Church in Wichita, KS. I like to think that sports is symbolic of life. The struggles one may have in a game, for instance, can mirror the struggles one may have in real life. Similarly, solutions to whatever is "troubling" you during a game (unable to make shots, not playing well, etc) often times require a similar solution in life. Maybe better focus on the priorities (defense? etc..) and forget about things that may be leading you astray. It is one reason why I enjoy sports so much, and use it a lot to teach in my sermons.
And that brings me to the point of my post. The bible is our "guide" to what to teach, and to what is right and wrong. The bible is very specific in terms of the rights of women. Countless stories and instances in both the Old and New Testament show that women are subservient to men, as men are the dominate gender, and that is God's will. Granted, I know that may be offensive to many people, and certainly flies in the face of many things in today's age. But the bible is never-changing and Truth. It cannot be questioned as the absolute last word on everything.
Therefore, I fail to see how one who believes in the Lord as a Christian can support women's basketball. The very idea of women playing basketball is a slap in the face of the Lord God and the good book.
Women are loving creatures but they have their place, the Lord commands. Their place is pleasing their man, being a homemaker, a mother, and a giver of life. Running around on a basketball court pretending to be something they are not is simply ridiculous. It is not righteous.
I am preparing a sermon for next month regarding this issue. I would like feedback from fellow Christians. Why do you think women play basketball? Why are they given a league with similar rules, television time, uniforms and even a tournament? Wouldn't a more useful (and realistic) use of their time be practical preparation for life, such as home economic classes, childbirth classes, and the like.
I find it both personally offensive, and extremely sinful that women's basketball even exists, and especially that it is treated as seriously as other sports. Thank you all for your time and God Bless.

Okay, I'll bite. I'm off work today and I've been locked inside all day.
Pastor Mike-
Yes, the Bible does say that. And most specifically what that speaks to is one's relationship with Christ, or a family's relationship with Christ. Meaning the man should be the spiritual leader of the house, whether it's a house of just he and a wife or if there are kids involved. Men should be spiritual leaders.
Period.
That being said...
THAT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH BASKETBALL!!!
You are right that the Bible is unchanging and is Truth. But it does not say that women should not play basketball. It doesn't say that women should not play football. It doesn't say women shouldn't be treated equally.
Because they should. They are humans. Simply playing basketball, in the same manner as men do does NOT mean they are spiritually stomping on men or that they are overtaking the role of spiritual leader, as the Bible says men should be.
You're narrow-minded, making an argument in which your logic could not be ANY more flawed, and above all else, I hope to God that your daughter grows up to play in the WNBA.

Not Swift-ian level satire, but a nice attempt considering the forum is a sports message board with low traffic.
Mildly curious as which foot this sock fits. Not biting enough for who I thought it might be at first.

I took his post 100% seriously until he suggested that we took women's bball as seriously as our other sports. Then it lost all credibility.

Since the earliest actual written versions of the Bible date to 280 BCE, I fail to see how it can used as a guide to truth unless you know which sections are translated from the oral correctly. So, Pastor Mike, your premise is wrong on its face. Perhaps you should take a couple of Western Civ classes or maybe just reread Aquinas.

Webster's left the word "gullible" out of the 2013 version of its dictionary. Can you believe that?

Is the elephant in the room a woman elephant? If so, what room of the house is she in? We all know what room she's in...don't make me say it.

I am pretty sure there is no actual elephant in any of the rooms of that church.
There are dozens if not hundreds of municipal codes that would run afoul of. I doubt very much they could hide an animal of that size, and someone would certainly notice deliveries of 300 to 600 pounds of vegetative matter per day. Would that not be suspicious?
Moreover, at over 16,000 pounds, it is quite dubious indeed that the floor joists would support the weight of an elephant, and few basements have the minimum 12'+ clearance needed to accommodate such a large animal. And how would you get it down a flight of stairs? Wouldn't its presence down there interfere with Sunday School classes and luncheon functions? There are just too many loose ends here.
I hate to cast dispersion on the truthfulness of a man of God, but I very seriously doubt there is a single pachyderm of any kind at the address given.
