With a replacement-level manager, I would say this is an 85-win team. However, must apply the "Yost penalty" which leads me to 78 wins.

I'm far from sold on the starting rotation and there's still that gaping, Grand Canyon-sized hole in RF. That said, team is in much better shape now where the focus is "what needs to be improved" vs. 5-6 years ago of: "what doesn't need to be improved?"

Biggest improvement over '12: Moose.
Biggest disappointment (Frenchy doesn't count): Santana.

Very glad to have the distraction of baseball starting.

Ditto.

77-85.

And I feel like I'm being optimistic.

One of the reasons I posted. Complete opposite of what was posted. Haha.

But Frenchy was dumped at the All-Star break. So good call by jamma.

I wasn't going too far out on a limb and made no individual predictions. But so far, my prediction doesn't look completely unrealistic.

Well Hosmer is actually hitting close to .290. Gordon will get another Gold Glove with his perfect fielding percentage and his 8 assists.

Moose will not go for 30 HR. (-)
Hosmer will finish better than .275. (+)
Gordon should get another GG. (+)
Butler will not reach either benchmark. I am a bit surprised he isn't close though. (-)
Colon will not replace Getz (though he couldn't be much worse). (-)
Wade Davis may be a steal if he is moved into the bullpen, but so far, no. (-)
Frenchy was gone by the ASB. (+)

3/7 isn't terrible.

It's interesting to think how good the Royals might be, however, if Moose was on pace for a 30+ HR season, Butler was hitting for great average and power, and Wade Davis was sticking in the rotation with a sub-3.75 ERA. Most of us thought that the Royals would be in the playoffs if jamma was correct on all of those things, I presume.

I think they would be close to a lock.

I wasn't in on this. But if I was, I would have predicted that David Lough would be a playing like a solid everyday outfielder.
