If I wanted to watch a B movie, I'd just watch a porn video as the dialogue, script, and "action" is much better. wink

Django was easily the best movie of the year. Not released on DVD until next Tuesday

I watched Life of Pi the other night. Didn't do it for me.

Ang Lee is a very overrated Director. Oscars were a pretty big farce this year. At least more so than usual, which is tough.

Well, it wasn't so much a twist as a gimmick. And I understand the point. I just thought it was a deus ex machina type of thing that rang hollow.

I thought it was weird, a lot of wonder throughout and the subject matter ends up being more morbid and less pg than you think. Which is weird considering the Disney like movie you just watched.

Edit: it was also really slow at parts

[Already there, but Life of Pi SPOILER ALERT]

I thought the supposed ambiguity was forced...cleverness for its own sake. I think it would have been a better story if, sort of like Contact, the wrenching conundrum was put on the viewer through Pi, not by him.

My recollection is that the book was more vague as to which story was real.

I thought the movie was good, not great.

Haven't seen django. Excited.

Killing them softly and killer joe are interesting. The latter is strange.

Both of James Gandolfini's scenes in Killing them Softly were odd to say the least.

I'm all for excess and love Tarantino and Django. But, Killer Joe just seemed so forced in the "excess."

Not a movie, but I'm enjoying Boardwalk Empire.

Entertaining and with a very broad scope: Atlantic City corruption, early days of prohibition, the creation of the mafia, , national scandals, pop-culture, the IRA.... Loosely based on some real characters, but with an acceptable amount of dramatic license.

Very good show to look at as well: architecture, cars, clothes, women, violence. And I've always thought Buscemi to be a very fun actor to watch.
