- getting the Royals as your interleague "rival." for comparison's sake, the Dodgers had to play the Angels. STL got to face a 72-win team for 6 games. LAD had to face an 89-win team for 6 games. STL went 4-2 against KC. LAD went 2-4 against LAA. How many games did STL win the wildcard by?
- simply being lucky enough to have that 2nd wildcard slot available
- the highly questionable call in the wildcard game vs. ATL
- not having to face Strasburg
- not having to face Melky Cabrera
That's the highly abbreviated list for
this year. Last year was even more ridiculous.
