No, I haven't.

I will honestly say I based a lot of my opinion on Zimmer based off what I read about his injury during the season and the fact his velocity went way up (always a red flag - see Danny Duffy).

I've seen Appel pitch, albeit just once on TV...and I was impressed.

He probably is impressive. I've also seen Kyle Davies look impressive against major league hitters.
Time will tell if the pick was good or not.

A guy I played ball with through my childhood and up till we graduated high school together was drafted and signed by the Milwaukee Brewers. He played his past two years at Neosho CC.

"As a freshman he hit .396 while leading the nation with 102 RBIs and finishing with 18 homeruns. During his sophomore campaign, he picked up where he left off once again hitting .396 with a team leading 12 homeruns, 25 doubles, and 59 RBIs. Giacalone also had an impressive career on the mound for the Panthers as his 18 wins and 179.0 innings pitched are also school records. Giacalone also threw two of the most dominant games in school history. As a freshman he set the single game record for strikeouts when he fanned 17 Fort Scott hitters in a win. He topped that performance as a sophomore when he threw the fifth no-hitter in school history facing only one over the minimum. Giacalone currently owns 12 single season or career records. He was twice named the Jayhawk Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference First Baseman and Pitcher, First Team All-Region First Baseman, Second Team All-Region Pitcher. As a freshman he was also named the Freshman of the Year as well as being named a First Team All-American, an honor which he is expected to earn again this season."

Sounds like your buddy is quite the player.

I wish him well.

I'm assuming he got drafted as a 1B?
