In my mind, EJ will start at PG, at least early in the season (Tharpe could take over for him at some point which would slide EJ over to SG), Releford will start at SF, and McLemore will start at SG.

I'm actually pretty excited about next year...lots of good pieces...

I really like this starting lineup. It doesn't give us a true point but Elijah and B-Mac makes for a huge backcourt:

Jeff Withey / Sr. / 7-0 / 235
Perry Ellis / Fr. / 6-8 / 220
Travis Releford / Sr. / 6-5 / 207
Ben McLemore / Fr. / 6-5 / 185
Elijah Johnson / Sr. / 6-4 / 195

Looks about right to me funk, although I wouldn't be surprised at all if Traylor doesn't start over Ellis, at least split time. I also see a prominent role for Tharpe upcoming.

Speaking of "prominent role", the list of "also" guys, including White, Green(?), Lucas and Peters, are certainly going to be more than just "also" players, especially if we get a guy like Parker or Randle or ? for the incoming class.
If we learned anything from this yr it is that we MUST improve our scoring consistancy from the perimeter. BMac and the incoming frosh are guys who fit that MO.

Adams will be a wildcard, I'm not sure anyone knows what to expect of him...I hope he's as badass as some have described.

Releford absolutely cannot play SG.

I'm sorry, did you miss the OSU game?

He has it in him. Just like Trob can't carry the team because he gets in foul trouble, or Tyshawn can't carry the team because he turns it over.

It's in him. It just needs to be brought out. Rele is a 1000 point scorer .

He does have it in him. But can Self finally get it out of him after 5 years? He had that incredible 2 week stretch then the scoring stopped. It's all in his head. I don't know how many times he's passed up open shots or just hesitated to pull the trigger, but if he wants to play the 2 he can't do that anymore

Releford reminds me of Keith Langford at times.. Seems to be a slasher.

I'll admit almost complete ignorance about Adams. Is there any reason to believe that he would be the first ever unranked freshman guard to get significant PT at KU in at least a few decades?

Same question, different positions, for Lucas and Peters.

Are they likely to beat out any of the eight non-also guys above?

I just looked back, and during Self's nine years at KU, our ninth leading minute-getters each year have played an average of 8.56 minutes per game since 2003-04. I consider those mostly "alsos"--meaning they're generally not what makes the team win or lose many important games. I suspect that, if Adams, Lucas, or Peters will be impact players in 2012-13, they likely will have to beat out one or more of the eight non-also players listed above. Of course, I could be wrong, but I doubt Self is going to start playing 10 guys all about 20 minutes per game.

Adams would have been rated more highly except he switched schools twice, and I think there was talk he was going to switch to class of 2013 for a while. The good west coast schools were offering. Hope he gets eligible and comes to KU.

But HCBS has been recruiting a juco guard from Idaho, and that makes me think Adams may be a longshot to be eligible next year.

I really hope not. Adams has a lot of TT ability in him. He's freakishly long and exceptionally quick.

Unranked?

I meant by Rivals: http://rivals.yahoo.com/basketballrecrui...soBPdNX2xHSO5B4

And I'm not trying to be argumentative, but even by Scout, he appears to be graded but not "ranked": http://espn.go.com/college-sports//baske...rank/class/2012

Like said, I don't know much about the guy. Maybe he'll be as good as Chalmers his freshman year. But why would one think that? It's a sincere question. Why?

Fans shouldn't be surprised if Withey tests the waters. I read somewhere he averaged .1 more blocks per 40 better than Davis. And, NBA teams would love to have a 7ftr shot blocker as a backup center. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Rivals focuses on football, I don't even consider them anymore.

Scout seems to focus more on the top ranked players throughout the year and doesn't update information after.

Just an opinion, but I have become disapoointed at both Rivals and Scoutslack of attention to detail at players that become late bloomers or who are outside the high ranks.
