Elliott speculates Kyle Drabek and Travis Snider "and some minor leaguers" could be enough to land Greinke. Drabek was the center of the deal that sent Roy Halladay from Toronto to Philadelphia.

UPDATE: Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Jays are on Greinke's no-trade list, meaning the pitcher would have to give permission for a trade to Toronto. Sources tell Rosenthal the Rangers, Reds and Braves, teams also reported to be interested, are not on the no-trade list.

Thoughts?

Rangers could re-sign Cliff Lee and trade for Grienke

Hard to see the Jays dealing Drabek days after they sent Marcum to Milwaukee. I think a Drabek/Snider package is light, anyway.

Jfish what names you think Atlanta would throw around?

Medlen, Venters, Kimbrel, Minor?

No way they part with Freeman.

I really like Snider, I'd take it if there were top level prospects included.

ESPN reporting that Zach has waived the no trade clause for the (gasp) Yankees.

like fish said, the more teams he's open to, the better. from the star:

Quote:

The Royals insist there is no financial push to seek a deal. They say Greinke’s contract, which pays him a club-record $13.5 million over each of the next two years, fits comfortably within their projected payrolls. The club’s thinking is that in a worst-case scenario, Greinke leaves after 2012 as a free agent, which would give the Royals two high draft picks as compensation and more payroll flexibility.

“If that’s the worst that can happen,” one club official asked, “why should we trade him unless we get exactly what we want?”
