KU and Duke have equivalent resumes over the last 10 years: 1 championship, one runner-up finish, one additional FF.

I got a bootleg recording of Coach K's pre-game speech before the WV game.

Coach K tells Zoubek and his other rebounders to push, shove, elbow and jump over the back of WV players all game long. You can hear Zoubek say, "but, Coach, I don't want to get called for a foul".

That's when you hear K and the whole team laugh hysterically.

Your response is irrelevant and misinformed. Typical KSU fan.

My stated position was that Duke has 1) not been the top program in the country for 5 years, 2) been consistently overrated in this period.

Here are the facts regarding Duke, over the 2005-2009 time period.

2005: #1 seed, #3 Final AP poll (UNC #2, National Champions). Result: Duke falls two games short of their seed, losing in Sweet 16
2006: #1 seed, #1 Final AP poll (UNC #10). Result: Duke falls two games short of their seed (arguably more, since they were overall #1), losing in S16.
2007: #6 seed, not in Final AP poll (UNC #4). Result: Duke falls one game short of their seed, losing in first round (funny how this, and the following two results, are not in your post)
2008: #2 seed, #9 in Final AP poll (UNC #2). Result: Duke falls two games short of their seed, losing in second round.
2009: #2 seed, #6 in Final AP poll (UNC #2, National Champions). Result: Duke falls one game short of their seed, losing in S16 by 23 points to Villanova.

Over the last 5 full seasons, Duke has NEVER played to their seed in the tournament. They were a #1 seed two times in this period, overall #1 once, and failed to get past the S16 both times. They have lost in the first round once, and lost by 23 points once. In other words, they have been OVERRATED every year. Like I said.

It's pretty clear that Duke has not been king of the hill during this period. That designation probably belongs to UNC. Like I said.

Minimum. They may very well beat them by 30.

Yep. Whatever the points, I don't expect any kind of game. Second half will be snooze city.

I love this tmcat "logic": If you point out the fact that the Duke program the past few years has been characterized by skinny white boys who flop alot but can shoot threes, you are plagued by "envy".

And if you point out the fact that historically Duke has had one good coach, while KU has the inventor of Basketball, the inventor of basketball coaching (whose assistants started dynasty programs at Kentucky and North Carolina), and in the time they hired Coach K, has had three other coaches who have had success both at Kansas and either professionally or otherwise. You're suffering from "major envy". And let's not even compare Wilt, Danny Manning, Paul Pierce and many other successful pro players who were at Kansas, with the handful of good players, and the larger number of skinny white guys that hail from Duke.

So, as other posters have mentioned, the only person who is envious in this thread is the cat-backer.

Good breakdown.
A simpler way of saying it is that Duke won one tourney game outside the state of NC in the previous 5 tournaments. By one point. Over Belmont.

Hope the tourney committee/CBS/refs with no balls don't start feeling sorry for them again for another 5 years.

Good thing those of you who guessed Duke would beat Butler soundly (and the one person who said Butler would win) are not in the prediction business.

As far as hawk61 saying [censored] Duke, I agree - [censored] Duke but there are 300+ NCAA programs who would love to be Duke. Not saying KU is one of them but it's hard to deny Duke a spot amongst the elite programs.
Those of you who complained Duke had an easy road, please realize easy or not they won the games they had to. Something 63 other teams couldn't do. It's hard to forget KU fans were bitching that it was unfair who we might have had to play and then we lost to Northern Freaking Iowa. That wasn't a team we should have had a problem with. Duke beat 3 very good teams (yes, I realize those teams were without key players) to win the championship. I still say [censored] them but it's not as if they didn't have to earn the National Championship. I realize there are many what I feel are foolish people who disagree with me. If it makes you feel better and lessens the pain to hate Duke because you feel the committee helped Duke win the games they played - by all means think that.
To all of you that are whining about Duke because of who they played and where they have played in the past - Fair or not, Duke still had to win the games and they did. Just remember people felt KU had an easy road in 88 and where the Final Four was located didn't hurt our chances.

In closing - I will say once again, [censored] Duke. I will also say congratulations to Duke for winning yet another National Championship and congratulations to Butler for a hell of a season. On to next year!

Thank heaven for remote controls. I was most successful switching from Mike & Mike in the morning & ESPN to avoid all mention of the game last night (and Dicky V comments). I did have to go to local news every once in a while. If I had no remote I probably would have lost 5 pound getting up and down changing channels (or not watch at all).

Gutter I'm with you on "On to next year!"
