It doesn't seem like Cornell could beat Kentucky, but what do you think?

If the Big Red shoot 64 percent like they did today and have a 19-0 lead in points off turnovers like they did today, I could see it happening. That team is a pleasure to watch. Smoked Temple, then smoked Wisconsin. They don't seem to rattle.

I don't know if anyone's posted this (it was too painful to come by yesterday), but apparently Northern Iowa drew some inspiration from Cornell and studied Cornell tape before yesterday's game.

Yes, I read that, too. I thought, They're smart, they scouted us well, they apparently had a better game plan. Hopefully, HCBS will never overlook a team of BWG again.

Did you read that the Ali, the Iranian sniper, was a juco transfer and the only D-1 school recruiting him was UNI....too short.

Cornell also knows they can hang with an elite team, as they showed in early January - remember?

Our boys needed some of what they were drinking cause we rattled plenty....we were tight, not relaxed and unfocused for both games in the tourney...Why would a #1 poll rated RPI rated team react like that.....just a strange way for the year to end....

You wonder if the Kentucky coach is saying right now, over and over to his team:

"Don't overlook Cornell. Look what happened to Kansas!"

Jay Bilas from ESPN actually picked Cornell to play Kentucky and beat them, pointing to Kentucky's youth and lack of experience!

Heard St. Louis also recruited him.

As far as the Cornell game film, I read somewhere that Coach Ben Carpenter said they had held three film sessions to go over it. Wish our preparation had been as thorough . . . .

One thing to consider: Regional in Syracuse could make Cornell the de facto home team. They're smaller than a state school, but still have the largest student body in the Ivies with 13,000+ Undergrads and 7k other students, which is more than Duke. If they can get them in there, plus some bandwagon followers and neutral support upstate, and pack the Carrier Dome to the rafters, it might put Kentucky in their most hostile environment all year.

No, Kentucky will easily win the title this year. The only team that could have rattled them would have been us. They are peaking at the right time. Cornell might keep it close in the first half...but that's it.

Kentucky right now is looking great. To say they are invincible is stupid. These guys can be beat. After the first round, I truly believe a smaller school like UNI or Cornell or so forth WILL win the title this year. Kentucky has the same problem we do and that is defending the three. If you think saying Cornell can beat Kentucky is asinine, then you are wrong. They can beat Kentucky because every team has that one night....

Plus, I might kill myself if Kentucky wins the title. I have BANNED cbs from my television until the tourney is over. And ESPN is not allowed to be viewed on ANY computer in my proximity. I know I'll find out, but I'll be damned if I hear Kentucky won it. i rather have Misery win.

I bet they are. Scared as hell that the Jayhawks would've crushed UK's soon to be abandoned NCAA appearance.

Thanks for clarifying that.

Hello Everyone, I am new to your board but would like to address a few of your topics. I am a die-hard KY fan with one exception, I AM REALISTIC. First and foremost I do applaud your passion for your Jayhawks, you love them as I love my Wildcats, but not all of "us" Cat fans are ugly in the way that some fans represent. I will say that I am sorry you guys got beat, I really wanted a final game showdown with what I myself thought was the best team in college hoops, but hey, it happens. That being said, I DON'T think that KY is going to win the title this year, there are just too many things that they don't do well enough (defend the 3) when it matters to say that they are a 'lock' to win this thing. Now, lets address all the stuff about Coach Calipari. I just don't really know about this guy. Cal has NEVER been lets say "convicted" but he has been accused, and that always leaves a bit of doubt in a persons mind, "doesn't pass the smell test" as my Grandmother would say, my gut says that he is clean, why do wrong when so many eyes are watching, and they ARE watching, waiting. If we get to the Final Four, it will be a small miracle, we play to the level of our competition on many nights and you never really know which team will show up. All that being said, please try to remember that I come in peace, only trying to let people know that not all KY fans are unrealistic, I LOVE my Cats, and will root for them till the end but. . .

Thank you, and I say that this time without the sarcasm, for dropping by. I actually love it when fans from other teams come here and want to talk intelligently about basketball. I know KU has just as many d-bags out there that don't accurately represent our fan base either. You guys do have a great team. Love the fire in the young guns' bellies. Not sure you can go all the way either, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

Calipari has never had to pay for his 'transgressions', and most likely never will, so why not continue to break the rules? He moves to better programs, makes more money and gets more attention. He's obviously not concerned about his reputation or ethics, so why change now?

I hope Cornell can beat them, but I am not holding my breath.

However, I puzzled by this:
>>>Plus, I might kill myself if Kentucky wins the title. I have >>>BANNED cbs from my television until the tourney is over. ?>>>And ESPN is not allowed to be viewed on ANY computer in >>>my proximity.

The tournament is a basketball fan's dream. Even though we lost, which just crushes, how in the world can you simply ignore the beauty that is March Madness? I can't comprehend NOT wanting to watch great college basketball, no matter who's playing. Just my two cents.

Well, I'm still hurting a bit from our loss so your peaceful post helps put things in perspective. It really amazes me, at times, to think how much everybody has riding on the tournement games and minimizes the regular season. We all know "it's all about the matchups" so that one chance game seems to overshadow everything else. I wasn't sure KU would win it all but I never thought UNI would be our downfall. Didn't see that one coming! UK should, but probably won't, be thinking about that when they face Cornell. I had Cornell beating UK in my brackets but if they don't, they will scare the hell out of your team. Cornell is playing with house money. Combine that with their poise and confidence it can be a lethal combination.

About Calipari - I don't think he so much has crooked intent in mind but more like he flirts with the very limits of legality and has a personality for risk that makes him a dangerous coach. He looks the other way on borderline issues so he may not be trying to do something shady on purpose but he is not trying to NOT DO IT either. Sort of like "Oh well, I didn't mean for that to happen, it was a mistake!" Plausible deniabilty.

I'm realistic too. UK has good athletes and it clear they are a cut above most. As is said many times, that doesn't mean the best team wins. KU beat themselves. It was a head thing IMO. UK is just as capable of that as well. Boy, is March Madness exciting! I sure hope expansion doesn't ruin that.

Cornell is another woefully underseeded team that has no fear. None. Great shooters. Great defense. A supremely talented 7-footer. Good luck. Cornell is also a New York team. Hint: They are being pimped by the NY Times and the national media.
