He's been a whole lot better than most think. I think he can still be a very good player.

I'm a Alex Gordon supporter, but availability is wearing on my patience. I agree that Gordon when healthy has been better than most give him credit for.

Sigh. Being a Royals fan reminds me of what it must be like to be a KSU fan.
I am not even disappointed or surprised at this point. In fact I kind of expect things like this.

As another Royals fan, here are my thoughts...
Had Alex Gordon been drafted by any other team, he would be an All-Star, would never have had injury problems, and we would all be saying...damn, the Royals should have drafted him.
Seriously, I've questioned some GM decisions when warranted, but it seems no matter what they do, or who they draft, that blue Royals script on the front of the jersey ensures that individual will SUCK.
Sigh...can't wait for opening day, I guess.

I would suggest Alex not slide head first , especially without glove in hand.

If Dayton has any skills at all I would suggest we trade Alex while there is any value left. Unfortunately we seem to be stuck with both of them.

Why trade him now when his value is in the gutter?

Jamma's right. Gordon's upside is still very well worth keeping him around. You can bet that any number of teams would LOVE to toss the Royals a throwaway piece for AG. I can think of one, in particular, whose soon-to-be-former home is outside my window.

I think my initiation lies with the circumstances around the injury. Its Spring Training and I don't understand sliding in head first ? (because of the risk of injury)
Secondly, and thsi is all rumorville, but it was thrown around that he was sliding head first because his hip was/is still sore.
Anyhoo, I agree with those who say we need to keep him for now

It would be really telling if his hip is still sore. AROD had the same thing last year and came back just fine (although we don't know how much roids he needed to do that) to finish off the season. If AG is still suffering from this injury, he might just be too injury prone to ever expect much out of.

No offense, but they traded the wrong guy to the White Sox. All runners had been instructed to slide feet first. AG reminds me of Texas basketball...all potential, no results.

No, they traded the right guy. Teahen's not worth his paycheck at this point. And Gordon was much better than you think in '07 and '08.

Gordon is not that good in the infield, and his hitting has been spotty. He was great in college, but even the lowly Royals aren't college.
