I love James Cameron: tired tropes about the awfulness of those who consume irresponsibly and the evil of consumer-driven technological advancement, even as he spends half-a-billion on the most visually advanced film in history.

Good chit there, boys and girls.

so....something my kids hear at school (cussing), see every day (smoking), and know more about than i do (screwing).

my wife won't let them see it if it's pg-13.

I took my kids. 7yr old son, 5 and 12 yr old daughters... they all loved it. My 5yr girl feel asleep though near the end cuz it was late. Depends in the kids of course, but there wasn't really anything in that movie made me regret later taking my kids. I agree with the poster who wondered why it was rated PG-13. Other than some of the fight scenes, it was pretty tame.

Visually stunning. Plot is very thin and a rip off of other movies. I'm thinking a combination of Dances With Wolves and Titanic. It's worth going to see just for how stunning it is visually but that's about it.

If you get some really good stuff, just a few. Otherwise, load up man. No need to bring a sheet with you though.

visually it might be the best movie i've ever seen. sure the plot is recycled but there are enough references to make it fresh. I highly recommend this film.

Visually impressive, but the story average at best. Reminded me a lot of Pocahontas, and the music score came real close to Titanic.

I didn't think the message in the story was preachy at all either. Every story needs a villain, and this villain just happened to be angry natural resource Americans.
Avatar = Pocahontas + Titanic + Fern Gully.
